It will be an amazing celebration of an amazing woman-- Dr. Roslyn Pope! What a way to commemorate the anniversary of the Appeal for Human Rights, which she authored, and Women's History Month!

During #blackhistorymonth, we remember anti-literacy laws that prohibited Black people (enslaved or free) from learning to read. Today, we are working to ensure that all students have access to scientific-aligned reading instruction. #blackliteracymatters #readingisacivilright

Dr. Roslyn Pope's obituary was published in the New York Times. So was her timeless Appeal for Human Rights, which sparked the ATL Student Movement. A full circle moment. History sure does rhyme! nytimes.com/2023/02/10/us/ro…

Roslyn Pope, 84, Dies; Her Manifesto Helped Fuel Civil Rights Fight (Published 2023)

An activist leader in Atlanta, in 1960 she wrote, with Julian Bond’s help, “An Appeal for Human Rights,” which resonated in the struggle across the country.
