4/ Fixed yield only holds when the backing is real. RWAs with contractual cash flows can actually underwrite a consistent rate. Crypto-native yield, for the most part, cannot really sustain it long-term. So, the next time you see "fixed APY", ask what is backing it.

3/ A fixed rate is a commitment 🗻 If a pool publishes one, the underlying has to genuinely produce it. There's no bridging the gap with farming emissions or circular exposure, the number on the tin has to match what is in the can. That requires discipline.

2/ Variable APY hides what you're actually exposed to. When yield moves, something underneath is moving with it: leverage unwinding, collateral repricing ... You're not earning a rate. You're absorbing volatility someone else gets to dress up as opportunity.

Variable APY should not be treated like a feature. In reality, a 12% headline rate that swings to 4% the following week is telling you something important about the risk sitting underneath it. That's why fixed-rate framing deserves more attention than DeFi gives it. 🧵

🚩 Red Flag #3: "Withdraw anytime" is a promise, not a guarantee. Instant liquidity works until everyone wants out at once. By the time you need it most, the queue doesn't exist.
