Happy New Month! As we step into September, CAfPRA @cafpraintl is proud to share a major milestone: The Senate invited us to the Public Hearing on the Bill to Amend the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, where we presented on strengthening Nigeria’s data sovereignty. This follows our 2025 policy advisory, which went viral, was featured across media platforms, and was quoted in letters to the President after FIRS signed a tax data MOU with France. CAfPRA told the Senate: “As Africa’s largest economy with the highest internet usage and most developed digital ecosystem, Nigeria must be treated as a strategic priority market. Nigerian users and creators generate enormous value for global platforms, yet the absence of local offices undermines consumer protection, data sovereignty and regulatory effectiveness.” We stand firmly for data domicile. Ghana is moving. America forced TikTok USA. Nigeria cannot fall behind. Data sovereignty is equivalent to national sovereignty and ought to be protected. #cafpra #datasovereignty #data #policies #newmonth #september
