In his address, President Macron has said the country is in need of calm after "far-left fringe groups and delinquents unleashed unchecked violence on our streets". He will consult with local authorities to contain any violence on the streets of France, including banning certain gatherings. He called on all political parties and trade unions to condemn violence, while indicating that the government will work with organisations and elected officials to develop solutions to the problems voiced by protestors. "Those that tell you to create disorder have one goal - to undermine the republic and steal the debate", he concluded.

CBC News reports it spoke to a doctor at Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, who says, “This number of patients [in Wainwright] would overwhelm the city of Edmonton and that is why we are clearing our decks and mobilizing to respond as if it was our own city. It is more patients than any of us want to count right now. It’s a disaster. It’s a one in every 15 to 25-year disaster.” cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/…
