What people also forget is that besides Friend appearing everywhere, part of the importance is *where* they appear. They haunt the SWORD route, arguably one of the most lore-relevant moments in the entire game, to the point where the controller to play it is the color of its eyes

It makes so much more sense how Eram was able to summon a bunch of 8bit FRIENDS to chase us if its indeed an entity trying to hijack DELTARUNE now. It was repurposing the device within MANTLE after simulating a connection like Gaster's on a smaller scale
