𧡠A thread about the update ππ»
The legacy of Fullstack Jamstack.
Seems like the great open source and startup consolidation is continuing to accelerate so I asked Gibbity to give me a breakdown of how all the different projects and companies from the FSJam era (2020-2023) fared that were featured on @FSJamorg.
If you listened to the pod back in the day this is for you. It broke them down into 5 categories.
I'm sure there's a lot of individual choices people could quibble with, so feel free to tear apart this list, I find it pretty interesting nonetheless:
THRIVING / SUBSTANTIAL SUCCESS
β’ Supabase β The standout startup winner, raising $500M at a $10B pre-money valuation in June 2026.
β’ Clerk β Strong commercial growth, reporting 15,000+ applications and 200M managed users at its October 2025 funding round.
β’ React Query / TanStack Query β A huge ecosystem success with tens of millions of weekly downloads and continued development.
β’ TypeScript β Firmly established, with Microsoftβs continued investment producing the native TypeScript 7 compiler in July 2026.
β’ Storybook β A durable open-source success that continues shipping substantive releases.
β’ Redux Toolkit β Remains actively maintained and continues improving its state-management and data-fetching tools.
β’ Docusaurus β A durable documentation framework with continued releases throughout 2026.
β’ Cloudinary β An established business whose developer community reached four million in 2026.
β’ Storyblok β Scaled into a serious enterprise CMS company, with an $80M Series C and continued enterprise customer wins.
β’ Prisma β Remains a major player, expanding beyond its ORM into hosted Postgres and application compute.
β’ Netlify β Still substantial, reporting 10M developers in January 2026.
β’ Flyio β Raised another $25M in July 2026 while reporting its strongest financial months and expanding into AI infrastructure.
β’ Warp β Reported nearly a million developers while expanding from a terminal into agent development and orchestration.
β’ The Guild β Continues productive development across Hive, GraphQL Codegen and its wider tooling.
ACQUIRED / ABSORBED / REINVENTED
β’ Astro β Acquired by Cloudflare in January 2026 while remaining open source and broadly adopted.
β’ GreenSock / GSAP β Acquired by Webflow in 2024, with previously paid plugins becoming free in 2025.
β’ StepZen β Acquired by IBM in 2023 and renamed API Connect for GraphQL.
β’ Quirrel β Acquired by Netlify in February 2022, with its founder joining to build scheduling capabilities.
β’ Remix β Joined Shopify in 2022, merged its original framework into React Router, and subsequently launched the substantially different Remix 3.
β’ Gitpod β Rebranded as Ona in September 2025 and repositioned around AI software engineering agents.
β’ Sequin β Its team joined Notion in January 2026, while its open-source CDC code remains available.
β’ Eleventy β Joined Font Awesome in 2024 and became Build Awesome in 2026, continuing the original project.
β’ RedwoodJS β Original GraphQL development wound down, with CedarJS continuing that lineage and RedwoodSDK launching its newer Cloudflare-focused framework.
β’ Learn With Jason β Continues within CodeTV, which lists nine seasons and 424 episodes.
β’ Hydrogen β Remains actively developed by Shopify, with a 2026 rebuild moving toward framework- and runtime-independent commerce tooling.
HEALTHY SPECIALISTS / STILL BUILDING
β’ Prismic β Remains an established CMS with current customers and an increasing focus on AI-assisted website production.
β’ React Bricks β An active specialist CMS with identifiable customers and new partnerships in 2026.
β’ Cloud 66 β A durable business that explicitly describes itself as profitable.
β’ Flightcontrol β Continues shipping infrastructure features and serving customers, though public evidence of breakout scale is limited.
β’ Sizzy β Remains an actively developed indie product, with new integrations and browser updates.
β’ Stately / XState β XState continues advancing, although the projectβs health is easier to establish than Statelyβs commercial performance.
β’ Solid β Continues healthy independent development, with Solid 2.0 reaching release candidate in August 2026.
β’ Qwik β Remains an active specialist framework with ongoing v2 beta development.
β’ Partytown β Continues as a specialist performance project under QwikDev.
β’ Marko β Continues progressing, with Marko 6 becoming the default npm release in June 2026.
β’ Elm β Remains niche but resumed compiler releases in 2026 with a renewed roadmap toward 1.0.
β’ Bit β Continues operating and evolving its component architecture alongside Hope AI workflows.
β’ FeatureBoard β Remains available as an Arkahna product, with limited public information about growth.
β’ Elements β Chris Mather continues developing it, now emphasizing integrated tooling for developers and AI agents.
β’ Plenti β Remains an available open-source project with a modest continuing operation.
β’ Causeworks β Continues providing nonprofit website services and explicitly uses Plenti.
β’ Bedrock Layout β A small project that remains maintained, with repository updates in September 2026.
β’ This Dot Labs β Continues operating as a consultancy with a broader focus on AI.
β’ Echobind β Continues consulting and launched additional products in 2026.
β’ Serverless Guru β Continues operating while broadening its cloud and AI work.
β’ Modern CSS β Remains available as an educational resource.
β’ PodRocket β Continues publishing, with episodes released in 2026.
β’ Talking Serverless β Has continued publishing through at least late 2025.
β’ Cooperpress β Remains a substantial newsletter business, reporting a combined audience above 450,000 subscribers.
STILL AROUND / LOST MOMENTUM / UNDER PRESSURE
β’ Blitz.js β Survives as a Next.js toolkit, but development momentum is weak and maintenance concerns remain visible.
β’ Nexus β Retains users, but its stable release is years old and the project shows limited forward momentum.
β’ Bison β Echobind survives, but this particular starter largely stalled, with its published package roughly four years old.
β’ Amplify / DataStore β Amplify continues, while the original DataStore approach has been overtaken by newer directions and AWS now provides migration guidance.
SHUT DOWN / DISCONTINUED / UNRESOLVED OUTCOMES
β’ Fauna β Its hosted database service shut down on May 30, 2025.
β’ Snaplet β The startup shut down, with some staff joining Supabase rather than the company being acquired.
β’ Everfund β Closed, with its official farewell referencing the November 22, 2024 closure notice.
β’ Layer0 / Edgio β Layer0 was acquired by Limelight, but successor Edgio ultimately entered bankruptcy and its CDN wound down in January 2025.
β’ Slinkity β Its repository was archived in March 2024, ending active development.
β’ Lambdragon β Ended after Aldo Bucchiβs death before its full release, a tragic circumstance rather than a normal commercial failure.
β’ Tapesh β Appears discontinued, although a first-party closure account remains unconfirmed.
β’ Mintbean β Appears inactive as the original hackathon and education business, but no definitive shutdown announcement was found.
β’ UserVitals β Its current service status and any formal closure remain unverified.

I feel like I planted many seeds in β21, neglected to water them in β22, and almost let them completely die in β23.
With my wedding/HM in the rear view, I want to reevaluate how I spend my time and get back to tending my garden, starting first with @FSJamorg and @RedwoodJS.

Arguably @blitz_js + Next is still the fastest, easiest way to ship fullstack production apps π
We have a big Blitz release dropping shortly with Next 13 App dir support AND @nextauthjs adapter for using nextauth providers with Blitz's more powerful session management.
Our time has come.
A bit tongue-in-cheek bc @thdxr loves to throw shade. With the new @nextjs 13 app dir built on @reactjs server components you can talk directly to you db in RSCs. @nextauthjs provides auth. Rest is plug-n-play. Full Stack JamStack, coined by @FSJamorg. ex. create.t3.gg/
