On this Lincoln Day, I was saddened to learn of the death of the great Lincoln scholar, Gabor Boritt. I was lucky to visit him and his son Jake in 2020, as I traveled the Lincoln Highway. He was as kind & gracious as he was brilliant - a great American.

Great talking with @carolmassar and @mattmiller1973 about what we found on the Lincoln Highway and beyond - and why it matters now.
“…… part of the story of the book is highlighting those ways, the kind of the values that have led us out of the dark times…..”
So enjoyed talking with @FSBarry who joined @mattmiller1973 & me today.
Thanks for having me on @NickHalaris - and for the thoughtful conversation! Really enjoyed it - listen below:
I read “Back Roads and Better Angels” recently and walked away feeling both inspired and invigorated.
Francis does a masterful job weaving together important, often untold, stories from our history with interesting stories, perspectives, and ideas from real #Americans he met on his journey across the country and examinations of the critical cultural and political questions of the day.
For anyone interested in understanding what’s really going on in America, the book is a must-read.
I wanted to have @FSBarry on the show to highlight this important new #book and unpack some of his key findings. Tune in to learn:
