Ronaldo is leading because of one of two reasons; 1: Messi fans can't decide which of his Balon d'Or winning seasons was the best while all Ronaldo fans are going to pick 2008 because that's the only Balon d'Or he won playing proper football. You could pick 2009,2011,2012,2019 and still be right because those were elite seasons from Messi. 2. It's a pay per vote award and you can vote as many times as possible. Ronaldo has probably disburse funds to his sister and Piers Morgan to pile up the votes because we all know how obsessed he is with being the first. 😎
