He’s wandering around after being kicked out of the treehouse he’s been squatting. No one has seen him in days.

“Guess I’ll have to hear you play. My uncle runs a record store that offers live shows. If you’re ever looking for a spotlight, I could get you on.”

He’s hanging outside, laying on a park bench and contemplating robbing the pawn shop that another vagrant sold his guitar to. Getting robbed was another downfall of being homeless and locked out of the music shop where he normally sleeps.

“Well, you’re probably smarter than me.” —or just more tame. Chase suffers from temperamental issues after losing his girlfriend. “So what kind of music do you play?”

Like you’ve never done the exact same thing? I don’t buy it.

“You’ll be great.” Chase thought about what Eli suggested, letting her sing a little. He just wasn’t sure he was ready. But the song would be dope with some female vocals. “What about this—?” He holds up a corset.

“Nothing.” Usually Chase was a little more open. But with everything changing, it felt like he couldn’t keep up anymore. The mess on the floor was the best reflection of how he felt. He was broken. “I’ll clean it.”

“What’s it matter?” She probably has to be the one to clean it up. He hasn’t thought of that. There was too much bottled up.

He smashes his acoustic guitar after a string snaps. —It’s that kind of day again.

“I don’t mean it as an insult. I’m sorry.” Chase owed a lot to Rowan. She was the only girl in his life for a long time. With the exception of a few a strippers who danced on him whenever Eli managed to get him out.

“Well... you’d fall in love with my character... yes.” He was a little shy and embarrassed despite his natural charisma. No one since Olivia made him feel this way. That’s how he knew there was something between them.

“You already look sexy, but yeah. It will be sexy.” He laughed, picking up anything that catches his eye. Usually they have someone else do this part, but he thought it would be a fun way for them to spend time together. “Your character does fall for mine. Breaks the curse.”

Chase didn’t mind having his hand held. He did it himself once they arrived at the mall. He grabbed her hand and sprinted over to his favorite costume shop. “Think sexy witch goddess. And don’t worry about paying for stuff. I get it all back in YouTube revenue.”

Rowan was right. Naya was everywhere now. At every show, every hangout... She’d become part of their circle but he didn’t see anything wrong with that. Unless she was jealous? “You’re used to being the only girl... You’re jealous?” He asked teasingly.

“I’ve always trusted your sense. If you think there’s something off about her, maybe there is?” Rowan was a big help in his recovery after Olivia. He didn’t want to push her out because someone else showed up.

“Well... we’d have to go shopping for wardrobe. So maybe I can explain the details on the way to the mall?” Chase hasn’t really been out in public for awhile. So the idea of venturing out again did make him feel uneasy.

“It’s not just about that. She’s — fun and she cares about people. I can tell.” Chase loved pretty girls just as much as the next guy, but he was also attracted to personality and Naya’s was more beautiful than any reflection.

“We could walk through it together.” She’d play the siren who leads the town to their death and the band would reverse the spell with their music. There would be a power struggle and then their songs would heal her too. From monstrous goddess to a beautiful young girl.
