Meet Yara Lugo, our 2026 Auschwitz Legacy Fellow of the Week.
When asked why she applied for the Auschwitz Legacy Fellowship, Yara said, "As survivors of the Holocaust are passing away, we are left without those who were there to witness it first-hand. ABMF's Fellowship is an incredible opportunity for American educators, who are so geographically removed from the sites of the Holocaust, to learn about teaching the Holocaust where it occurred and become a witness so they may share their experience with students."
Yara learned about the Auschwitz Legacy Fellowship thanks to ABMF's partnership with @FLHolocaustMus.

Half of Americans cannot name a single concentration camp or ghetto. That should alarm all of us.
Holocaust education is not only about the past. It is about protecting truth, empathy, and humanity now.
Our flagship educational program, the Auschwitz Legacy Fellowship, is training high school educators across the United States to teach #Holocaust history with accuracy, depth, and humanity.
Through a fully funded, year-long experience that includes professional training and an immersive study trip to @AuschwitzMuseum, Fellows return to their classrooms prepared to confront antisemitism, Holocaust denial, and misinformation through education.
One teacher can reach hundreds of students every year.
One classroom can help preserve memory for generations.
With recruitment support from @FLHolocaustMus, the Fellowship continues to expand across Florida as part of ABMF’s national goal of reaching educators in all 50 states by 2030.

Meet Lisa DiRenzo, our 2026 Auschwitz Legacy Fellow of the Week.
When asked why she applied for the Auschwitz Legacy Fellowship, Lisa said, “I applied for this fellowship because it truly is an opportunity of a lifetime. The chance to collaborate with fellow educators over several months and then to travel to Poland to witness firsthand the places where this history unfolded is invaluable. I consistently seek out professional development to deepen my content knowledge and strengthen my teaching, and this fellowship represents the highest level of learning I could hope for. I am honored to be selected for this experience and am grateful for the opportunity.”

The FHM is heartbroken by the terrorist shooting in Bondi Beach, the latest incident in a global wave of antisemitic violence. We will continue to serve as a protected space for education, community, and advocacy.
