Ahead of the ICC-FIDIC Conference on International Construction Contracts and Dispute Resolution, FIDIC Academy held its workshop “FIDIC Contracts & Dispute Resolution: The Life of a Dispute from Engineer to Arbitration” on 13 October in Bogotá. Around 50 engineers, lawyers, arbitrators, contract managers, DAAB members and procurement specialists from more than 10 countries joined us.
FIDIC Chief Legal and Contracts Officer Daduna Kokhreidze, FCIArb welcomed participants. She highlighted the role of well-balanced contracts and of strong partnerships and procurement across the project team in avoiding disputes and resolving them early. José Joaquín Ortiz García, Chairman of Joyco, also addressed participants on behalf of FIDIC Academy as our local host.
Trainers Ignacio P. and Roberto Hernández-García, FCIArb, FIDIC Certified, used a single case study to follow one dispute from the Engineer’s determination through Dispute Boards and amicable settlement to arbitration. Participants weighed the costs, timing and risks of each path. We were especially pleased to welcome a strong delegation from the @Inter-American Development Bank .
Thank you to all participants and to our hosts, the Cámara de Comercio de Bogotá ICC COLOMBIA. See you at the conference on 15–16 October!

The LAC Transport Forum 2026, co-organised by FIDIC and the @Inter-American Development Bank brought together delegations from more than 20 countries around one goal: investing more in Latin America and the Caribbean, and above all investing better.
Investing better starts well before financing. It means a pipeline of well-prepared projects, clear conditions for private sector participation and a long-term view of costs across the life of the infrastructure. That is where project preparation, quality procurement and fair contracting make the difference, and where FIDIC is proud to work alongside IDB.
Thank you to IDB, the participating governments and everyone who joined us in Miami.

What’s the FIDIC Silver Book provision you think is most important to get right on an EPC project?
The FIDIC Silver Book takes a different approach to risk, obligations and procedures than the Red and Yellow Books, reflecting the specific demands of EPC/Turnkey projects. Knowing how these provisions work in practice is essential for those managing, administering or advising on these contracts.
Our FIDIC Academy EPC/Turnkey Projects Course - Silver Book provides a practical, case-study-based introduction to the 2017 Edition, including key differences from the 1999 Edition:
- Structure and key clauses of the 2017 Edition
- Procedures for managing risk, time, payments and contractual obligations
- How to apply the contract effectively throughout the project lifecycle
- Practical case studies and contract scenarios
📅 Starts 2 November 2026 | Live Online | 18 training hours | CPD certified
👥 Intermediate level | For project managers, engineers, consultants, employers, contractors, legal and commercial advisors, and public authorities involved in EPC/Turnkey projects

Over two days in Miami, the LAC Transport Forum 2026 brought ministers, senior government officials and industry together, jointly organised by FIDIC and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
On 29 September, the Regional Policy Dialogue looked at the conditions for better infrastructure outcomes, institutional capability, shared standards and quality-led procurement, and what builds confidence between governments and the market.
On 30 September, the Forum opened to the market through the Project Roadshow, where delegations from more than 15 countries presented over 50 transport projects representing US$36B+ in opportunities, projects in preparation and approaching procurement.
The Forum also marked a new partnership. FIDIC President Alfredo Ingletti and Chief Executive Officer Susanna Zammataro signed a Memorandum of Understanding with International Road Federation (IRF) Director General Gonzalo Alcaraz. The partnership will collaborate on research, capacity building and knowledge sharing, with a focus on project preparation, asset management and procurement that drives innovation and quality.
As Alfredo Ingletti said in his closing remarks, "the success of this Forum should not ultimately be measured by how many good discussions we have had today - or even by the scale of the investment pipelines we will see tomorrow. It should be measured by what changes after Miami."
Our thanks to the IDB and everyone who took part. We look forward to continuing this partnership beyond Miami!

FIDIC and the International Road Federation (IRF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen infrastructure delivery around the world. The MoU was signed at the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Transport Forum 2026 in Miami, which FIDIC is co-organising with the Inter-American Development Bank.
FIDIC President alfredo ingletti and Chief Executive Officer Susanna Zammataro signed on behalf of FIDIC, alongside IRF Director General Gonzalo Alcaraz. As Latin American countries step up investment in road and transport networks, the ability to prepare, procure and manage projects well matters as much as the financing itself.
The partnership brings together FIDIC's global network of consulting engineers and IRF's 75+ years of experience in road systems to support:
✅ Stronger project preparation
✅ Better management of existing road assets
✅ Procurement that drives quality and innovation

"A common language does not mean every project has to look the same. It means the market does not have to relearn the basic rules every time."
FIDIC Chief Executive Officer Susanna Zammataro made this point in a fireside conversation with Ana María Pinto of the @Inter-American Development Bank on Day 1 of the LAC Transport Forum 2026 in Miami. The conversation explored how shared standards can expand competition.
Later, in the Forum's dialogue on governments and the market, she brought the industry perspective:
"International participation and strong local capability should not be treated as competing objectives. They can reinforce each other."
Today, the Forum opens to the market with the Project Roadshow, as governments across the region present their upcoming transport pipelines.

"The quality of infrastructure depends on the quality of the decisions and institutions behind it."
With these words, FIDIC President Alfredo Ingletti opened the Regional Policy Dialogue on Day 1 of the LAC Transport Forum 2026 in Miami, jointly organised by FIDIC and the @Inter-American Development Bank
In the dialogue on moving from design to delivery, he returned to that theme through the lens of the intelligent client: "The quality of the client function can be just as important as the quality of the technical solution."
In his closing remarks, he looked beyond the Forum itself:
"The success of this Forum should not ultimately be measured by how many good discussions we have had today - or even by the scale of the investment pipelines we will see tomorrow. It should be measured by what changes after Miami."
Today, the Forum moves from dialogue towards delivery with the Project Roadshow.
