Why did we appreciate Rory finally winning the Masters for the first time? Because we all tweeted, wrote, podcasted, newslettered and talked about each and every time he failed. And before every Masters we talked about it again. So when he won we knew, the best we could as a fan, what that moment meant to him. We had years of context. It’s why everyone not talking more about Jeeno’s record in Majors does her and the women’s game a disservice. It is great to see her play well today at Evian, she has put herself in contention. It should be a main topic of conversation. Including her years of struggles in Majors. By her world class standards she has been bad in Majors. And when she breaks thru, she should get the credit for overcoming that, as Rory did at the Masters. It’s why I said in my article a few months ago we need to cover women’s golf as the major sport it is. Not with kid gloves. That requires all of us, media, Jeeno, the LPGA, etc to talk about it honestly.
