Money laundering is as old as money itself, yet efforts to stop it remain strikingly ineffective. Today’s anti–money laundering laws intercept just 0.05 per cent of global illicit financial flows, while imposing heavy costs on legitimate businesses and consumers. Criminals stay ahead of regulators, forfeitures often cost more than they recover, and vast sums still move invisibly through cash, gold, and other assets.
How to Launder Money exposes how and why this happens, dissecting the mechanics of money laundering not to enable crime, but to reveal the failures of the current system. Acknowledging the challenges faced by law enforcement, it offers practical recommendations to reduce financial crime and identify what actually works. This is an inside story criminals already know—told for everyone else who wants to understand how well-intentioned laws are doing more harm than good.
What a great scam. You need a favor - that will cost you 10 wine barrels. Anyone come to investigate — answer: Ugh — we drank it all? It is a wonderful way to pass bribes and launder money, so much better than speaking gigs, wiffy book deals, or kindergarten art. Truly fantastic. It is nearly straight out of the "How To Launder Money Book".

This is a wonderful way to launder money. What a great way to pass money to an elected official — it is even better than the BS biography deals or crap paintings. Want "X" done — that will be 10 wine barrels. Anyone comes to inspect - "Uh we drank it all?"

They're coming for your savings, Europe.
#Venezuela Oil Deal is a work in progress. The oil fields are damaged. In 2002, they produced 2.9 mbpd; now down to 1.1 mbpd. It was only after the US secured a deal with Venezuela on oil production that this could have happened. "#Chevron will invest over $7B in Venezuela’s Orinoco Belt, in a JV to increase output from 280,000 bpd to 600,000 bpd. The loss of assets to major oil companies from two rounds of nationalization kept most sitting on the sidelines. They needed economic certainty to make any investment.
"How To Launder Money," my and George's Sunday Times best-selling book, is now an award-winning book. Wow.

You spent the weekend pricing AI tools. By Monday, you had 3 new subscriptions and a quiet feeling that you were already behind.
You weren't behind. You were confused.
Here's the difference between AI strategy and AI tactics and why it's costing founders six figures: 🧵

You're not the bottleneck because you won't let go.
You're the bottleneck because nothing around you was built to operate without you.

A beautiful website with no strategy is just an expensive digital brochure.
And a digital brochure that doesn't convert is just expensive.
Your website should be your best salesperson.
If it isn't generating leads, building trust, and qualifying prospects while you sleep, something is broken.
The problems with #drones. I hope #Amazon was delivering chlorine.

Capitalism won’t make most of us as rich as Elon Musk, but it’ll make most of our grandchildren richer than him—just as it made most of us richer than Rockefeller in nearly every way that matters.
Warren Buffett: “The bottom 2% in terms of income in the United States, the bottom 5%, and for sure the top 1% all live better than John D. Rockefeller was living when I was 6 years old.”
“John D. Rockefeller was the richest man in the world and, today, you can get better medicine, better education, better entertainment, better transportation. You can do everything better than he could.”

The question most founders skip is the one that matters most.
Not: What's the best case?
Not: What's the worst case?
Both of those get asked. Both drive decisions in ways they shouldn't.
The question almost nobody asks: what's the most likely thing to happen?
The realistic outcome, not the dream, not the nightmare, is the only version of events your decision should be made against. If the most likely outcome moves you toward your goals, go. If it doesn't, no amount of optimism changes that math.
Three questions. In order. Every significant decision.
Best case. Most likely. Worst case, can I survive it?
Once you have all three, the decision is almost mechanical.
Ouch, the debt defaults are coming in on a slow but steady roll.
