It was shocking to realise that 20% of the current #F1 grid is following my page! 🤯 (4 out of 20)
Verstappen was the first to do so (in 2022), and since then he’s always won the WDC! The power of data analysis? 🤣👀
@Max33Verstappen @FranColapinto @PierreGASLY
Bearman reached 350 km/h during the Baku GP, the highest of any driver! 🚀
Similar top speed to the one at the start of the ground effect era (351), but far below what BEA himself hit last year (361)
RUS reached 329 with NO OVERTAKE MODE OR SLIPSTREAM! ANT showed the extent of Mercedes' straight-line performance, hitting the highest average top speed (343) during his comeback
#F1 #AzerbaijanGP
RACE PACE (Impacted by traffic ⚠️)
-RUS had the best pace on track, but VER spent the whole race behind PIA and RUS! Mercedes likely had the upper hand, yet RBR performed brilliantly here
-Ferrari was way back: LEC 0.66 s/lap slower than RUS despite also running in free air for most of the race
-PIA was only marginally quicker than LEC before the lockup, and struggled afterwards
-BEA was the best midfielder pace-wise, yet LIN finished in front of both Haas
-William's pace was terrible: SAI was helped by the SC, then he 'survived' long enough to score points!

Bottas was slowest BY FAR during any segment of the race

NOTES ON #AzerbaijanGP!
-Hard to decide who was Driver of the Day between RUS and VER! Fantastic fight. RBR looked good on the straights
-Excellent comeback by ANT, who cut his losses
-3rd podium for HAD
-LEC got a decent P4 after a terrible start
-McL has the same PU as Mercedes, yet on tracks with long straights they perform much worse. I think their gearing (the shortest on the grid, by far) is the culprit
-Excellent result by LIN and Haas
-Won't be a nice afternoon in the Alpine box...
Who was your #F1 Driver of the Day? Mine is VER
Mercedes smashed everyone's championship hopes by taking pole by 0.837s: LEC (P2) was way closer to P9 (-0.684s) than to RUS! 🤯
And that's on the 15th quali of the season, despite significant upgrades from the other teams
RUS was fastest in every sector, had by far the best top speed (331 km/h, vs just 322 km/h for "best ICE" RBR and 321 km/h for RBs, same as Aston), and no shortage of energy: he crossed the line 16 km/h faster than he was at the start of the lap
ANT will overtake everyone but RUS

BEST SECTORS
LEC did well by almost matching RUS in sector 1, but his best sector 2 was still 4 tenths away of Russell's
McL was next quickest in S2, Alpine (Mercedes PU) in S3 (where McL still struggled despite having the same PU)
Here's a question: can we still call it "F1" (or even "motorsport") when a ~1000 hp car stays flat-out for 600m and barely gains any speed by the end? 😢

So it's confirmed: Ferrari's 'ADUO 2' upgrade (which only HAM had in Madrid) was significant, providing 18hp more in some crucial phases (peak power on corner exit, between 260-310 km/h, in the clipping area) and similar performance elsewhere 🚀
This debunks a lasting myth: that one #F1 manufacturer (RBPT?) can have the best ICE but not the best ERS.
-Ferrari's upgraded ICE made their clipping vastly better, which is exactly what you'd expect, since all energy comes from the ICE anyway!
-Having the best ICE almost guarantees having the best ERS too, and thus the best performance
What's your opinion?

Ferrari's ADUO 2 #F1 engine upgrade, introduced at Monza, is worth ~15hp based on my calculations! 📈
OCO ran the standard engine, BEA the upgraded one
In quali, BEA accelerated harder at EVERY SPEED: 15.4hp required to explain that gap
Ferrari's ADUO 1 upgrade was worth ~7hp, making this second upgrade TWICE as effective. That would put them ~20hp behind Mercedes, down from ~45hp at the start of the season!

Sainz (and Williams) had the best starts this season! 🚀
2026 #F1 START ANALYSIS - Key Points:
-Williams and McLaren had the best starts; Aston and Audi the worst. Ferrari lost its start advantage...
-HAM made the quickest start: 4.45s to 200km/h in Madrid!
-RUS had the worst: 6.85s in Hungary

I might have just witnessed the most powerful naturally-aspirated #F1 car in existence, and you'll love the story behind it! 🔥
Ingo Gerst, owner of the Boss GP Championship, invited me into his box. Among the F1 and F2 cars was a 2006 Toro Rosso. That year, F1 switched from 3000cc V10s (~950hp) to 2400cc V8s (~750hp). Toro Rosso received a concession: they could keep using the V10 for one more year, with an intake restriction to cut its power
Ingo bought the car, removed the restriction to restore its full power, and as the original spare parts ran out, replaced them with newly designed ones, making the car even more powerful (and reliable): it now revs to 20100rpm!
I mean, look at the size of those radiators…
PIA and HAM had the best starts, yet their race turned into a nightmare: 2.4s to reach 100 km/h, just 4.5s in total to reach 200 km/h. PIA was on Hards, making this result even more impressive!
Aston and Audi were the worst cars off the line by far: something to improve on
🟧NOR had the best RACE PACE at the #SpanishGP (0.24s/lap quicker than 🟩 ANT, 0.41s/lap quicker than 🟦 VER): from a likely win to P3 due to extremely unlucky VSC timing
🟥LEC's pace was within 0.1s of 🟦 VER's, yet he finished the race 24.8s behind him!
What a pity, replacing Spa with this track ☹️
Wonderful shots of the cooling outlets on the sidepods and hood of Ferrari and Aston

Monza Quali really did expose the limitations of the new Power Units ⚠️
The average #F1 team lost ~3s to 2025, and only part of that was due to lesser downforce
Having a powerful PU was critical:
-Alpine switched from Renault to Mercedes, losing less than 1.8s/lap.
-Aston went from Mercedes to Honda, losing more than triple that!
A solid power unit didn't guarantee success, though: Williams still ran a Mercedes PU, and yet lost 3.9s to last year!
