ALL HANDS ON DECK! We need your help to #FREEPAULWATSON
Please contact the Ministry of Justice in Copenhagen regarding the recent arrest of Captain Paul Watson in Nuuk, Greenland. Paul will be detained in Nuuk until August 15 to allow the Danish Ministry of Justice time to decide whether to extradite him to Japan on an international arrest warrant. He could face spending the rest of his life in a Japanese prison.
📢US citizens should also contact their local representatives & state senators to raise attention in the Department of State.
A list of contacts and email templates available at freepaulwatson.org
Should you choose to write your own message, please be respectful.
We are overwhelmed and gladdened by the outpouring of support these past few days! We need your help now more than ever. #FREEPAULWATSON
🇻🇺 Resumption of sterilization after earthquake in Vanuatu
The FBB received a request for assistance for a national program from the Government of Vanuatu in 2022 on the island of the same name in the Pacific Ocean.
Vets Beyond Borders, with whom the FBB collaborated to develop the vaccination/sterilization program in Sikkim State, India, called on the Foundation to be a partner on this new project.

In the Netherlands, a judge sided with @WakkerDier against catching chickens by the feet in farms. 👏
Despite a 20-year-old EU-wide ban, the poultry industry continues this cruel practice.

50 #wolves were killed in 🇨🇭 to 'protect' sheep. Yet recent DNA analyses have proved that these wolves had never attacked sheep.
❌ Further proof of the ineffectiveness of non-targeted culls.
✅ #Coexistence is possible, non-lethal alternatives exist!

👎🇫🇷 Shocking: after #wolves, it's now the turn of #dogs to fall victim to aggressive lobby groups. Since 10 April and until 10 May, France has authorised the killing of stray dogs in five communes of the Aveyron department in order to "protect sheep". 🐶🐏

In a new survey by @beuc, almost 9/10 consumers responded that they support better #animalwelfare laws for animals raised for consumption, and believe that the EU should act to update legislation to offer them protection. 👏

Effective preventive measures include:
✅ Fencing.
✅ Shepherding.

Recently, we transferred the three little ones to the specialized brown bear rehabilitation center "Arcturos" in Greece.
