Like many of our public health friends, we've decided to move over to🦋.
As we champion an Australia free from alcohol harms, we want to be present on a platform that fosters positive debate, evidence-based content, and better moderation of misinformation.
"Women and children need government and community leaders to pull every lever within reach, because their lives depend on it. This is a moment to lead with conviction and without compromise or hesitation."
By implementing this legislation, the SA Government will be the first jurisdiction in the country to take meaningful action on alcohol's role in family and domestic violence.

A @GuardianAus article today highlights new research which found children are exposed to alcohol product advertising on commercial television.
The changes proposed by Free TV Australia also don't address a “sports loophole,” which permits alcohol ads during televised sporting events. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) will soon determine whether the new draft code will get the tick of approval.
By rejecting the Code, ACMA has the opportunity to prioritise the health and wellbeing of kids ahead of the interests of alcohol companies.

"If the Malinauskas Government introduces its current draft Bill to parliament as is, it will have a measurable impact on preventing and reducing rates of family and domestic violence." Survivor Advocate @MissKymmie77 wrote in @WomensAgenda
SA is leading the way by putting the health of their community first, now we need to seize the momentum to ensure these laws are replicated nationwide.

FARE CEO Ayla Chorley and FARE Lived Experience Advisor @MissKymmie77 joined gendered violence researcher @jessradio yesterday to meet with South Australia Minister for Consumer & Business Affairs @michaels_andrea to discuss the important work underway to amend SA's Liquor Act.
This work follows a commitment by all state and territory leaders at National Cabinet in September last year to take action on alcohol's role in violence against women and children.

We welcome this conversation and thank Minister Michaels for her ongoing advocacy that acknowledges alcohol's role in exacerbating and increasing rates of violence.
