Who shapes Africa’s food future—and whose interests does it serve?
AFSA’s July–September 2026 newsletter follows a quarter of action connecting farmers’ fields, parliamentary debates, climate negotiations and public discussion.
In this edition:
🌱 The Pan-African Parliament advances a continental Model Law on African Food Policy, opening a new pathway for food sovereignty and agroecology in legislation.
🌍 Participants from six Congo Basin countries adopt a regional agenda for agroecology, biodiversity and climate justice.
🤝 More than 130 participants from 33 countries come together in Ethiopia to shape a common African civil society position towards COP31 and COP32.
🎙️ Farmers, young entrepreneurs, researchers and journalists bring practical alternatives—and critical questions about seeds, finance and power—into the conversation.
The editorial’s message is clear: progress brings responsibility. We must carry this momentum forward so that the people who grow, protect, prepare and depend on Africa’s food have a stronger voice in shaping its future.
