The resource extraction part of ยซPeace for mineralsยป is functioning on schedule.
The peace part though... not so much, and the M23 still holds positions in the East, in violation of the accord.
It's fair to ask what in that arrangement was actually being secured, and for whom.
It's called a ยซPeace for mineralsยป deal. As it was negotiated, M23 rounded up thousands of Congolese civilians, some as young as 12, into camps where hundreds died from beatings and starvation.
The accord has no justice clause for any of it.
Whose peace was this actually for?
Washington just blocked a leading UN Secretary-General candidate (Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett) for one stated reason: she has publicly called what happened in Gaza a genocide.
Not for being wrong about it. For saying so.

That sequence is profoundly immoral.
