It’s English, Education and Equity week on the module - I think I’m looking forward to this seminar task the most!
First time teaching the Exploring English Education lecture “face to face”/“in REAL life” since lockdown was an absolute joy. I am a bit worried about having to go home and confess to the dog that I taught it without her valuable “help” and contributions though.
An interesting bit of #LinguisticsInTheNews - to sub or to dub?? #TeamEnglish

@SheffHallamEng have some brilliant taster videos for students thinking about English at university who want to get a sense of what it’s like! @suevictorian talks about critical reading skills for BA English Literature here: youtu.be/VWSCADeN5_o #TeamEnglish
Much of this book is based on this @ExploringEngEd module, which I’ve taught in various forms for the last five years. So unbelievably excited that it’s out in April!!!! routledge.com/Studying-Ficti… @mmgiovanelli #TeamEnglish
Want to find out more about stammers & their depiction in fiction? Enjoy this taster video from our module Language, Learning and Wellbeing. If this is a topic you’d like to cover with your students get in touch: our @SHUlinguistics team are happy to help! youtu.be/eCnnrUNBmxs
Haven’t really felt like my co-lecturer for this module has been pulling her weight. We had a chat about it and she agreed to run today’s office hour #Pedadog
The challenges of teaching this module online! All working great apart from the enthusiastic contributions of co-lecturer, Stella the Pedadog, who seems to think she can do the lectures better than me and wants a more central role in module delivery!

Looking forward to “seeing” you Mary! Go on then, have a sneak preview of a very prevalent theme!
Here’s the abstract, lots on English education and teachers! #TeamEnglish @Team_English1
Do representations of teachers in the media or in fiction affect you at all? Do you ever compare yourself?
One for educators and students in Higher Education here - do you prefer splitting assessment into 2 pieces or having one big piece at the end of a module? Why?
Especially loving the third question here: if you could teach absolutely anything what would your favourite topic/area be??
A big question for all educators here! We didn’t have time to explore this in our panel - what are your experiences?
Just some of the questions that were posed in our panel session last week! We’d love to hear your thoughts and responses:
LECTURE STARTS IN ONE MINUTE..... oh, WAIT, no it doesn’t, because a raft of issues with Higher Ed including workload intensification & contract casualisation have forced us out on strike. I’ll retweet pictures of my fabulous colleagues participating in #UCUStrikesBack instead
