They broadened the definition in the 90s to include High-Functioning Autism, combined with greater awareness of traits across Doctors, Teachers and Media
Basically they expanded the definition then realised how much misdiagnosis there was

As someone who has asthma this hurts even more. It could’ve been as simple as he forgot a rescue inhaler and that’s all it took.
To my asthmatic friends, find a daily asthma prescription pill/daily inhaler. It has changed my life and I barely have to use a rescue inhaler.
Although I rarely use one I still have one on my person at all times, and when I travel I have an extra one in my backpack.
