This must stop. Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and maintaining its unlawful occupation and apartheid against Palestinians while also committing war crimes in Lebanon. Meanwhile its trade with the EU is booming. Today is the last chance before EU politicians break for summer to suspend the EU Israel Association Agreement. Over 1 million people have demanded it. NGOs, unions, UN experts and hundreds of diplomats and ambassadors agree. Two states hold the key. Tell Germany and Italy to act. Sign the petition here: amn.st/6013BET17b

🧵1/ As @NATO meets, one fact remains: nuclear weapons do not make people safer. They increase the risk of catastrophic war and make everyone a target. Spain's PM @sanchezcastejon rightly said: "A system that requires zero mistakes... is not a guarantee. It is a gamble."

30 years ago today, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued one of the most significant legal findings in the nuclear age: that the threat or use of nuclear weapons is generally contrary to international law.

The 100th country joined team #TPNW today. I’m so proud of the campaign and the work it does to get country after country to ban nuclear weapons, it’s more needed than ever. ICAN and TPNW 4-ever!!! 💕💕💕
1/ Remember when we were told a ban on nuclear weapons wouldn't happen? Because the nuclear-armed states would never allow it. Well today, the #NuclearBan which came into force just over 5 years ago, already has the support of a clear majority of states eligible to join it!

Human hands built nuclear weapons. Human hands can dismantle them. What’s needed is political will and leadership. That leadership is already being demonstrated by the global majority of countries that joined the #NuclearBan Treaty. Read: merotribune.com/2026/07/01/w…

NATO outspends Russia 10 times on nuclear weapons yet still feels threatened. Can spending more on nuclear weapons ever create real security? Check our previous post to learn more from ICAN's Head of Policy, Alicia Sanders-Zakre. #NuclearBan #InternationalSecurity

These hikes to military spending increase the risk of war and nuclear confrontation. The government should instead be investing in vital public services like rail, schools, and hospitals. We say reverse the military spending hikes. Invest in people not nukes!

CND is happy to have signed this letter to the outgoing PM over the government's military spending hikes. £5 billion of spending outlined in Tuesday's Defence Investment Plan remains unfunded, threatening even more cuts to public services. We need investment in #PeopleNotNukes!
In a world beset by conflict, inequality & climate & ecological breakdown, 55 organisations from across the UK have today written to the PM to warn against his govt’s increasing focus of funding on the military over other forms of international engagement. rethinkingsecurity.org.uk/op…

Increased military spending at the expense of cuts to vital public services actually produces a net reduction in job creation. In reality, this war drive risks the lives of millions of people and will devastate the living standards of those in Britain and across the world.
Yesterday, the government announced spending cuts to vital public services as part of the Defence Investment Plan. This is costly and wasteful: every extra pound spent on defence is money taken away from schools and hospitals. Let’s invest in people, not more war abroad.
