This is the current DDR setup at R1 GVM while they undergo their remodel. Hit the Beat is the most distracting game I've ever encountered in the 24+ years I've been playing rhythm games, and I've played DDR next to Speed of Light. It's 50x louder than Taiko with its 'clanking'

Not an exaggeration when I say pretty much any headphone-less rhythm game in the area is 100% unplayable when someone is playing on this thing. Yeah, I'm probably just avoiding playing on weekends here for the foreseeable future.

DDR Players: Konami is aware of the issues that the Platinum Models are having. I don't have a timeline yet, but it is being actively investigated, and the team is looking into fixes for the various issues that have been reported (sync, audio, timing, etc.).

Heard Konmai pushed a stealth sync change (again) in the latest DDR patch yesterday to new Gold cabs/Platinum cabs. Played a single set on R1 GVM's new model Gold cab to see for myself. Yeah it might be a slight change. 馃

Really cool seeing a bunch of non DDR mains wanting to get more into DDR after CEO. For me it's the opposite! I genuinely enjoy playing the other dance games, but I'm also (likely) losing access to DDR for an indefinite period of time starting 9/8 due to R1 GVM's remodel starting

tbh I always have a blast competing (and sightreading everything) in ITG at CEO as my lone yearly ITG session nowadays, and I wish I had a better private setup for it. I've neglected SMX recently, but I can play it more once weather cools down here. Maybe more PIU for Big One?

Thomas(Akemi) is the man and has been a shining beacon of the rhythm game community for years. While it's completely surreal to see a one in a million accident happen like this to him after CEO, it's also unsurprising to see how everyone has quickly rallied around him with this.

DDR Platinum cab thoughts after CEO - - General consensus is visual offset should be whatever you play on Gold cabs (mine is -15ms). - Audio offset consensus is it needs to be earlier. -6ms worked for me and seemed to be consensus, but differs (Chris preferred -13ms) 1/3

- CEO's Platinum cab pads felt great to me, but that was also with them being modded by the most knowledgeable players and not typical experience. - There may be a manufacturing defect with the L-brackets, as they were coming undone multiple times and causing drops/sticking 2/3

- After the last timing update, it does feel like Platinum cabs will be tournament viable going forward (which is good), but will still require pad modding to get them in proper shape, and remains to be seen if the L-bracket issue is a one off or a real defect. (3/3)

Got back to Dallas from CEO in time to see the Odyssey in 70mm IMAX! One of the only ~25 theaters in the country to show it in this format.

6th gen Gold timing upgrade thoughts - Yeah, it's a hell of a lot better. Much closer to being on par with white cab timing now.
