No video breakdowns for the next 4 games - off to Brazil for a few weeks to catch some Brasileiro matches. (Plus maybe cold emailing some scouting reports to @MNUFC while I'm there 😁). #MNUFC

About to watch Reynoso and imagining him, Pereyra, and Quintero as our three AMs in a 4-2-3-1. #mnufc

Love Bongi's composure here. Instead of forcing a 1v1 or rushing a cross to Caldeira, he lets the play develop for a split second & finds Ant with a great cutback. "Decelerating serves, incredibly, to gain time and to create spaces that were hidden" -Valdano #MNUFC

It's been an absolutely dire few months for #MNUFC. I don't have much to add to what's already been said, so let's just look at one of the few good/interesting build-ups from the last game, lol:

Really like how early Chanca reads this situation. He starts his full sprint before the pass even happens, anticipating Trapp getting the ball to Pereyra, who has plenty of space to turn upfield & send him through. #MNUFC

Cam being asked what he wanted to see going back to 2 #10's: "It was a little bit of function of the defending shape too. Having them defend a bit wider..." Adjustment may have solved one issue, but did another one pop up? - I don't get why our settled shape sat so deep and with absolutely no pressure on their first line. I don't believe a 5-4-1 is great at pressing, but we were completely passive. They calmly circulated the ball & provoked our defensive shape all day until they found gaps to exploit. Kinda feels like Cam is playing whac-a-mole lately... #MNUFC

The switch to a 2-striker system has definitely boosted our attack (12 goals in 3 games), but we've also lost our defensive stability and have given up 9. Moving from two wide 10s in a front 3 who could naturally drop into a 5-4-1 (where the 10s could help block the half spaces with their cover shadow) to a 2-striker system and a #10 behind them (becomes quite narrow) leaves our 6s with a lot of ground to cover & stretched easily. Curious to see what changes we might make vs. Dallas tomorrow night... #MNUFC

Cam mentioned that many of the transition moments were "self-inflicted" where it can leave the guys at the back in "difficult situations" and he keyed in on 2 examples: 1. "Drop off - not a moment to press" 🟥 3rd goal: Ant jumps aggressively where I don't think it's needed, leaving a free man with time & plenty of options to pick his pass (numbers get behind Gene). 🟥 5th goal: Duggan probably should've dropped off & contained, but opted to press an extremely fast winger and lost the duel. Diaz doesn't recognize back post danger early enough? 2. "Giveaways in critical areas" 🟥 4th goal: Boxall carries the ball forward & loses it unnecessarily. More aggressive counter-pressing by Ant leaves left side wide open; forces Duggan to rotate wide in a difficult 1v1. Gene fills in centrally, but gives Janssen too much space. #MNUFC

Manny breaks down Duncan's role in Orlando's third goal: #MNUFC
Frustrating from Duncan on Orlando's third goal. Griezmann is progressing into an area to play someone through, but Duncan is square (not angled), ball-watching (fixated on Griezmann), and oblivious to the runner getting in behind him (not scanning). #mnufc

"I want the ball... and to connect with the game..." Caldeira has shown glimpses of this with his recent introduction, but Malone could be an upgrade here if we continue with two up top. #MNUFC ⚽️ @MNUFC 📹 @andygreder 🎤
