Wow! I wish I’d known this when we recorded our #RomancingTheStone episode! I also love how he also just drops in casually that he *also* slept with the screenwriter! people.com/michael-douglas-r…
You can check out our Romancing the Stone episode here or wherever you get your podcasts! youtu.be/1vO7jBTLzcc?is=aOGX…
We covered Happy Death Day and its sequel on the podcast! They’re big favorites with us! Check it out here or wherever you get your podcasts! youtu.be/mfSmoEOKEK4?is=OT4H…
1/31 Scary Movies for October: Happy Death Day! I’ll be watching this horror rom-com time loop movie tonight because my husband wants to rewatch too! It was marketed all wrong imo. I was pleasantly surprised by how women-centric it is and how funny! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
Every Rom Com says “No” to AI and “Yes” to Jen checking out multiple YA non-fiction books on cheerleading from the library just so she can give you a reliable history of cheerleading in the “Bring it On” episode!

New show out! Covering #AmericanMovie #Coven #WisconsinDeathTrip and #Supergirl! I’m a Wisconsin native, so the Wisconsin-set films are close to my heart! youtu.be/MVhaE3NpSEA?is=y_4G…

This movie meant a lot to me and this essay does too. Contains all the spoilers for #Melancholia, but if you’ve seen the film, I hope you’ll check it out! moviesofthemonth.com/movies/…

Movies of the Month September list is out now!!! 🚀🚀🚀
Our September list is out now! You might even say it blasted off... Is that enough of a hint for this month's theme?

Let us know what recommendations you'd add!
Jen had a great time discussing #Fear over on Bawdy Literati! We got into patriarchal control of women’s sexuality, the dark romance genre, Jen’s 90s kissing style and of course the #Nicole4Eva tattoo! Check it out! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
@GetMeAnotherPod I broke my normal podcasting rule and listened to your take on things before recording! So I shouted you out for a key insight I gained from your episode early in the show!
Nothing says end of summer to me like #DirtyDancing! Learn about the woman writer and gay director behind this surprisingly political and feminist film; the history of Jewish resorts and more in this older episode! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
The podcast has been beset by so many scheduling, tech and personnel issues lately that it’s almost felt like the universe working against us! But I swear we will have more for you in September!
We almost covered this one in our Summer Rom Coms series, but as we close out summer, here’s Jen discussing #Adventureland with another great podcast!
We talked first jobs because we watched Adventureland! We are joined by @genxjenh from @EveryRomComPod! We get into it all - virgins, penis size, slut shaming, and wicked stepmothers!

Granted the year spread is affected quite a bit by what movies I’ve watched and logged, but 2023 comes out on top and that big bump in the 90s I do think reflects a real cultural change towards better representation with the rise of indie films.

Let’s talk genres! Rom coms and horror both do well, but drama comes out on top!

Here are the directors who came out best so far. Granted women directors have a higher % of their films that pass generally, they just often aren’t given as many chances to work.

Here are the actors who had the most films in the list - partly a function of who I watch most, but some of these actors do seem to mindfully choose movies with strong women’s roles!

My favorite @letterboxd list “It Passes the Bechdel Test… Twice” reached 1000 movies yesterday! I’m also going to list some stats! Not every movie on this list is feminist or ideal representation by any means. But it’s one lens to examine a film through! boxd.it/oiBO6
In addition to the short essay I wrote for @moviesofthemnth we also did a podcast episode on this film! A great entry-level horror movie and feminist classic! everyromcom.com/podcast-1/ep…
