🇦🇱🔥🙏🏻Evangelicals represent a social minority, but even so, they can make a difference at this time of social upheaval, believes the Evangelical Alliance of Albania (VUSH).
“In these days of protests and tension, the Word of God first calls us to become people of prayer. Prayer is our primary way of engaging with the reality we face,” they said in a 15 October statement from the entity, which brings together the majority of Albania’s evangelical churches. “There is power when we come together in prayer, for our hearts unite and seek the face of God and His justice.”
The organisation calls on both Albanians and Christians from other countries who are concerned about the situation to pray for “preservation and protection from violence, hatred and division”.
It also calls for wisdom for those in government, that they may be guided by “justice, integrity and accountability”.

🇪🇸📜🏛️ By Antonio Simoni:
In the Old Testament, the prophet Obadiah (v. 20) mentions a territory called Sepharad, a name which Jewish tradition has historically identified with the Iberian Peninsula.
Also of interest are certain historical traditions relating to the province of Huelva (in Southern Andalusia); according to a study carried out by several historians from the Asociación Hespérides, the town of Zalamea la Real is thought to have originated around 1000 BC and linked to trading expeditions from the eastern Mediterranean, drawn by the region’s mineral wealth. One of these traditions links the city’s foundation to Salomea, said to be the daughter of King Solomon, from whom it is said to have taken its name.
Also curious is the coincidence between the name of an ancient town in Huelva, Abiud, and the character of the same name who appears in the genealogy of Jesus recorded in the Gospel of Matthew (1:13).
In the New Testament we find references that are particularly interesting for our Spanish history. The Acts of the Apostles mentions Cornelius, a centurion of the cohort known as the Italic (Acts 10:1) according to some Spanish translations. More modern translations render it as ‘the Italian’. We also find Rufus, mentioned by Paul in Romans 16:13, whose figure has been linked to the early Christian communities in Hispania, particularly in Tortosa.
A specially significant reference is that of Gallio – not merely because he was from Córdoba, but because he was none other than the proconsul of Achaia, appearing in Acts 18:12–17. His full name is Lucius Junius Gallio, brother of the celebrated Cordoban philosopher Seneca. His presence in the account constitutes one of the strongest historical links between the New Testament and a family closely connected with Roman Hispania.
But perhaps the most explicit reference to our land is found in the Apostle Paul himself, who expresses his intention to travel to Spain in his letter to the Romans (Romans 15:24, 28).

🇪🇸👩🏻⏩ Lissette González Torres founded the ML&ME project nearly a decade ago and has been working since 2022 in partnership with the Fundació Temps i Compromís, established in 2006, a network that brings together companies, volunteers, and local organizations to help people based on the values of “solidarity, commitment, empathy, transparency, and love.”
Building on this partnership, the June event went beyond business networking to focus on cooperation, support for children and youth, and social services.
An example of this vision is the Llar l’Albada project, led by political scientist Sara Carvajal and supported by the foundation, which provides housing and promotes independence for women in highly vulnerable situations and at risk of homelessness.
One of the fundamental ideas of the gathering was that success and leadership cannot be separated from a commitment to service and ethics. For example, co-founder Cesca Planagumà, in addition to her career in media, has training in Family Counseling and Christian Counseling. And speakers like Sara Carvajal combine their professional work with coordinating community initiatives to combat loneliness within their church community.
