I pressed on this thinking “interesting” and am the first person misquoted haha. Let me be clear: I have childcare. I need the help. I have been very open about this. I didn’t have help with my first kiddo and it was really isolating in a very bad way. I don’t think having help with children is damaging at all. Mothers weren’t meant to raise kids alone. The “mother at home alone with kids with no support” is a modern crisis. It’s part of the reason people aren’t having children. I’ve talked about this a lot. I also don’t have a problem with all daycare. I do have a problem with dropping your 6 week old off somewhere where they don’t get enough attention. There are a lot of terrible daycares. I have also made this clear. I have no problem with getting help with children, I think neighborhood daycares are great. Not all daycares are equal. Love your kids, spend time with them, and get enough help so you can have children and be sane, and they’ll be fine. And avoid dingy moldy daycares that ignore your kid and let them sit in unchanged diapers all day @sapinker (retweeting and restating my views so you know I’m not insane).
