NEW GTA 6 DETAILS revealed:
- GTA 6 will have significantly narrower roads and denser traffic than GTA 5, with more buildings throughout its world.
- Some Rockstar artists have been working on GTA 6 for over 11 years, with early map development and research in Miami beginning in 2015.
- Rockstar faced development difficulties between 2019 and 2022 while trying to balance the realism of RDR2 with GTA’s traditional gameplay. Some designers left due to frustration over the lack of progress.
- Development began coming together around late 2022 and early 2023. The first trailer in December 2023 helped developers see the game’s overall direction.
- Rockstar developers accompanied Miami police on ride-alongs, visited dangerous areas, and photographed the city from helicopters to help recreate its environment.
- Rockstar’s 27-minute Netflix gameplay presentation was proposed by marketing executive Mark Adamson. The company’s head of publishing was reportedly moved to tears after watching an early cut.
- Rockstar’s art production team increased from around 5–6 people on GTA 5 to 65 on GTA 6, helping improve development planning and workload management.
- Rockstar nearly doubled its workforce during development, growing from approximately 2,400 employees in 2018 to 4,700 in 2026.
- Rockstar had employees working full-time in Miami, with some developers pushing for the company to establish a permanent office there.
- GTA 6 is so massive that even Rockstar’s top developers may not know every detail included in the game. Individual developers have the freedom to add smaller details to the world.
