🌱Do leaves and roots follow the same strategy? New research led by @ZhuYuzhi5778 in @Ecology_Letters shows that leaf and fine root traits in subtropical forest plants are largely decoupled, with independent above- and below-ground resource strategies. 👇 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

Annual science meeting of @schmidtsciences @Lemontree_UofR project hosted in @SeoulNatlUni @snucals1 was filled with curiosity and fun! The program included one day of open seminars, two days of science meetings, and two days dedicated to the Early Career Researcher (ECR) summer school. The open seminar welcomed nearly 100 participants and featured presentations covering a wide range of topics on Eco-Evolutionary Optimality principles. The talks sparked many engaging questions and discussions. The science meeting highlighted updates from various working groups. It was a valuable opportunity for all of us to see the overall progress of the project, which led many discussions. The ECR summer school combined lectures on theory with hands-on training in LiDAR and hyperspectral remote sensing. We enjoyed a series of social activities too! 🍺 🐟 🥩 @SandyHarrisonRe Colin Prentice Heather Graven Xu Liang @PierreGentine @trevorkeenan Karin Rebel Hugo Jan de Boer @StockerBeni @nick_greg_smith @WangHanSci Pier Luigi Vidale Anna Agusti-Panareda Martin Best Sophia Cain Natalie Sanders Sarah Jones

At 5pm today at #esa2025, @AlissarCheaib will present her poster: 'The satisfaction of leaf nitrogen demand under drought is modulated by soil nitrogen availability and drought severity" highlighting how water-nutrient interactions must be jointly considered in models. 👌🌿🪾

N affects the C cycle. But how? Although N cycling is now included in many global vegetation models, C cycle trends remain uncertain. We demonstrate how theory predicts widely observed patterns in experiments and traits data - ready for adoption in models. nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/…
