I was deeply honored by the opportunity to testify before Congress. After AOC said all of this, I felt like asking the world to just stop for a minute.
I'm changing my desktop pic from her defending me & us to something more calming, but pinning this on twitter to keep it close
'The only time religious freedom is invoked is in the name of bigotry and discrimination. I'm tired of it' — @AOC just flipped the entire ‘religious freedom’ argument on its head

Moderator: Name a time when you voted against your party and Trump and it changed the outcome.
Susan Collins: I organized people to vote against Pete Hegseth but one of our Republicans changed his mind. Otherwise he would've been defeated for that job.
Moderator: So, it didn't change the outcome

🚨Breaking re @MaiForUs v Matsui🚨
🚨New Sacramento Bee Article🚨
Sikh Gurdwaras from Sacramento, Elk Grove, and Lodi released an unprecedented public statement that they have "lost confidence in Matsui's ability to represent our community fairly" after Matsui ignored a request from community leaders for a meeting to discuss her failure to support Congressional bills re anti-Sikh Discrimination, Transnational Repression, and the 1984 Genocide of Sikhs.
Even now, she wouldn't talk to the Bee reporter and sent a campaign consultant to distract from the issues by saying our Gurdwaras are engaging in a political 'stunt.'
A message for my neighbors in California: When Matsui shows you who she is, believe her. Regular people asked for basic accountability, so Matsui sent a guy to smear our leaders. Absolutely shameful.
Thanks for the original reporting from @sacbee_news @mathewjmiranda that focused on the facts and issues. Thanks also to @Jasjit4Sac for standing strong despite the political cost.

ABC News has more of Jane Doe's statement to a Cornell panel:
* "I was prostituted, and I was held up like bait for a gaggle of men, and I didn't even know it was happening," saying she had been raped by 8 to 10 fraternity brothers.
* "I remember being coerced into using ketamine. I remember several respondents running a train on me, many different times. And I remember a dark room with shadows of men in and out constantly, and I remember feeling like there was a joke and I was not in on it."
* "I will never know everything that happened to me, and I know I've said that a lot....I'm open-minded, and thoughtful, and empathetic. But for two or three weeks following the event, those qualities protected the [men]. I didn't want to believe something terrible could happen to me."
Testimony from her friend:
* "I believe personally that she was such in shock that she was just trying to make everything okay and maybe kind of a people pleaser at that point.... But I knew she was uncomfortable as soon as I saw her on that Monday and that she wasn't okay with what happened and maybe embarrassed."
Jane Doe in closing:
* "I ask the panel to please make it safer for those that I love and the community at large, and to remove those boys from the campus. I will not be there to see the change, but removing these respondents will make Cornell a better and safer place."
Jane Doe left Cornell. Currently 2 of the Cornell 7 are still on campus.

Thank you to the Robert Cantelmo, Mayor of Ithaca, NY, for this powerful statement and action relating to the Cornell 7:
"Given this appalling response from university administration, I have no choice but to declare a new policy directive and corresponding Common Council resolution, implementing an immediate moratorium on all student event and special event permits, including, but not limited to Greek life and other student group gatherings, until such time that the University conducts an accounting of its protocols to prevent and prosecute crimes of sexual violence and publicly releases new standards and practices to keep our community safe."

I first learned of Emma a few years ago and I'll be forever impressed at her strength and determination to never let the administrators and the student body pretend they didn't know what happened to her. To let them know that struggle was nothing compared to the emotional toll.

Someone told me I shouldn’t help spread pictures of the Cornell 7 guys, because it might destroy their lives.
Sweetie, that’s what I’m counting on.

Do they literally not see what is happening right in front of their eyes?

Mr. Netanyahu, you do not speak for New York’s Jewish community.
Your government arrests hundreds of innocent yeshiva students each week, while we in New York practice our faith and live freely and safely.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani is a friend and ally to our community
You are not.

i hate Flock as much as the next girl, but this is simply a completely broken criminal justice system, from cops to prosecutors to jailers. no actual police work happened here. and then they tortured her.
Lindsey Isaacs, a 23-year-old from Palm Coast, Florida, testified about being thrown into solitary confinement for more than three days after a Flock license-plate camera wrongly tied her Dodge Durango to a deadly I-4 crash.
Jail staff told her she had to stay isolated because of how serious the charges were. The cell door stayed locked for about 86 hours.
She said she was terrified she would spend the rest of her life in prison for a wreck she knew she hadn’t caused.
At her lowest point she didn’t want to live. She spent nearly two weeks in maximum-security jail before prosecutors dropped the charges.
Flock should be sued out of existence for this.
