I completed E-Day and never felt like Marcus and Dom were pushed aside. The original games clearly established Marcus as the hero, with Dom playing a major role alongside him. I don't think E-Day changes that.
What I liked about E-Day was that other characters got their hero moments too. And I don't see how that takes anything away from Marcus or Dom. They're still central to the story here.
I can understand wanting more focus on their relationship, but I don't agree that giving other characters heroic moments somehow diminishes them. If anything, I thought it made the story in E-Day better.
I worked on the first two and was excited for the origin story, then I played. The shooting is still Gears, the environments are beautiful, but the campaign spends the hero moments on someone else.

I really dislike that Laura Fryer (she’s great, respect) is perpetuating this “Marcus was sidelined” narrative that is not only completely baseless and false, but also encourages the worst type of people online who likely haven’t even played the game.
The Seahawks winning the super bowl and distilling into cold soup within 5 games the next season should be very instructive to Mariner fans.

A full sized cougar broke into my neighbors fenced in chicken hutch last night and dismantled part of it to the ground; three of seven chickens missing. A bear attempted this same break in months ago and was unsuccessful.
