Every Oct. 13, people around the world come together on #WorldThrombosisDay to raise awareness, recognise the signs and help prevent thrombosis, a major underlying mechanism of acute cardiovascular events.
In 2026, the campaign is putting women’s health in focus. Thrombosis is a blood clot that forms in a vein or artery and can block blood flow.
A woman’s risk of developing a clot changes from adolescence and reproductive health through pregnancy, postpartum, menopause and beyond.

Vandaag, 13 oktober, is het Wereld Trombose Dag. Op deze dag wordt wereldwijd aandacht gevraagd voor trombose en de impact die deze aandoening heeft op het leven van miljoenen mensen. Te weinig mensen weten namelijk wat trombose is, hoe ze het kunnen herkennen en wat de risicofactoren zijn. Helaas ook in Nederland. Daarom staat de hele maand oktober voor ons in het teken van Wereld Trombose Dag.
Met onze campagne “Jong of oud, sportief of niet. Iedereen kan trombose krijgen” willen we duidelijk maken dat het belangrijk is dat íedereen weet wat trombose is. Zo kunnen we hopelijk een hoop toekomstig tromboseleed besparen.
