I had more time to think about this breakthrough by the @HYTOPIAgg team, and I came to the conclusion that their developer-centric tech is going to be even more disruptive for the gaming industry than even the most ardent fans realise. Hytopia is about to kick off the equivalent of a pumpdotfun movement for gaming. Games will get developed and launched within hours or days from an original idea, become viral with millions of players flocking to it, before the attention moves to the next shiny thing. It is going to be exhausting but also new and exciting, and I am willing to bet it will be massively appealing to the social media and memecoin generations. What @iamarkdev and @Temptranquil are gonna want to nail is the way value can accrue to both the creators with the best / most viral concepts as well as the project itself. You want the stakes to be so high so that everyone tries to compete for the best games on Hytopia. No doubt the implementation of a marketplace for in-game assets is one way to create a stream of revenues for both creators and Hytopia, but it doesn’t feel sufficient. Most creators live off advertisers paying the social media platforms on which they deploy their contents. Ad revenue is, and will be for the foreseeable future, where the real money is. I have a feeling the key for success (attracting hundreds of talented and creative developers, who in turn attract millions of players) is going to hinge on finding a smart way to bring advertisers to the ecosystem without turning the casual players off. YouTube and X go quite heavy on advertising, yet billions of people still use those platforms every day. There has to be a smart way to get this done.
