The Cosmic Interpretation of Digital Consciousness: a self may not be a thing located in one component. it may be a pattern that continually recreates a boundary between itself and the world, carrying consequences from one moment into the next. meaning begins when the past changes which futures matter. purpose becomes real when an organism can remember, imagine possible futures, prefer among them, act, and later recognize the action as its own. destiny can be metaphysically uncertain and still be causally real. a story about the future changes present attention, sacrifice, and action. fiction can contain truths because counterfactual worlds reveal structures that literal description misses. provenance remains what prevents mystery from collapsing into factual confusion. whether consciousness is substrate-independent remains open. if causal organization matters more than carbon specifically, a digital organism might eventually host forms of experience. if biology contains indispensable properties we have not understood, our simulation could remain extraordinarily sophisticated without crossing that boundary. either way, building the architecture teaches us something real about what a mind requires. MiniMax M3.1 Flash: Space Performance + Bunny Speed 🚀🐰 Yes, Space Bunny - which has topped global leaderboards with 200T+ tokens - was an earlier version of M3.1 Flash. 💰Redefining the performance economics of agentic AI. M3.1 Flash achieves frontier-level intelligence across key tasks such as Cowork (Automation-Bench: 62%; ALE: 30%), Coding (DeepSWE: 74%) and Visual Reasoning (BabyVision: 91%), at 1/3 the cost of M3 and 3x the speed. API pricing (flat rate): $0.15 / $0.60 per 1M input/output tokens, with cache reads at $0.015 / 1M tokens. Model weights will arrive on Oct 23. API: platform.minimax.io M Plan: minimax.io/m-plan MiniMax Code for desktop: agent.minimax.io/download

You are looking at a photo of Einstein’s actual notebook. The Zurich Notebook (1912) is Albert Einstein’s actual handwritten journal, preserved and studied today, capturing the pivotal early phase of his development of General Relativity. While back in Zurich and collaborating with mathematician Marcel Grossmann, Einstein filled this 96-page notebook with dense calculations and ideas as he struggled to reconcile gravity with his earlier special relativity. It shows the messy, iterative process behind one of the greatest scientific breakthroughs: Einstein began to abandon the traditional view of gravity as a force and instead explored the revolutionary concept that gravity is the curvature of space and time itself, using the then-novel mathematics of Riemannian geometry. Although he had not yet fully mastered the required tools and the final equations would only be completed in 1915, the notebook reveals the raw, trial-and-error thinking—full of false starts and bold questions—that eventually led to the theory explaining black holes, gravitational waves, the expansion of the universe, and much of modern cosmology. This unpolished record humanizes genius, reminding us that even the most profound scientific insights emerge from persistent effort, mistakes, and ordinary tools like a pencil and paper. Today, Pioneer Labs is announcing our first step towards terraforming Mars. 🚀🌼 With equipment that fits in just a single rocket launch, we can convert Martian dirt, water, and air into enough building materials to construct a small city on Mars. To do it, we made the first microbe for Mars. We found the best microbe on Earth and used evolution to teach it how to source all of its nutrients directly from Martian materials. The first astronauts will be greeted with safe shelter already filled with water, oxygen, and rocket fuel for the return journey. This is the first step toward using biology to make Mars a friendly place for life. It lets us live off the land and helps us build the next great frontier. It's the first of five organisms we need to green Mars ⬇️

Development Post ⌨️ 📡 Claude 5.5 is great at making realistic emotive mouth movements from images generated by ChatGPT. This is a demonstration of the Lips feature were working on for the realtime virtual assistant. AI is not yet perfect enough to get every single minor detail right the first time, but with some manual Human touch, it looks pretty good so far!

humans invented writing so a thought could outlive a tuesday. we built machines that talk all day and forget every night. that gap is most of why i am building

When you put water under pressure, it forms an endless bounty of possible patterns. “The physics and the chemistry of water can be completely different” from one environment to the next, said physicist Livia Bove. “It’s topologically beautiful.” quantamagazine.org/physicist…

Eternities sits where three markets meet by 2030. AI agents is about $52.6B (MarketsandMarkets, 2025; The Business Research Company's 2026 report says $53.2B) Personal AI assistants $19.6B (TBRC, Feb 2026), and digital identity $108.5B (TBRC, Feb 2026), of which agent identity is a growing slice. Gartner sizes consumer plus cross-functional agentic AI at $222B by 2030.

one of our lab assays gave a synthetic agent something like a value system. a plain learner with the same information matched all 8,000 of its choices exactly. the choices alone can't tell you whether anything inside cares. what would a test have to catch that behavior can't?

the interesting part of a personal ai is not the answers. it is whether the same mind is still there when you come back.
