I was really proud of the @TeamDoncaster1 Health & Wellbeing Board yday.
A few meetings ago, I suggested we take the Board out of the chamber & into communities. I helped organise it until May, & I’m so glad the plan carried on.
It completely changed the atmosphere. It felt human, real, energised. Like stuff was actually happening.
This time, I joined not as a Cllr, but as a resident who helps run the library.
Alongside the brilliant Liz White, who does all the hardwork !! at Woodlands Library, we shared the work we’ve been doing with our community.
Work that has grown over years.
Work that genuinely changes lives.
The room was genuinely moved. People were in awe of what Liz does every day to hold & uplift the community. commitment, care, & our creativity are making a real difference.
It reminded me that when we meet people where they are, & centre the voices of those doing the work, everything starts to feel possible.
It feels good to be able to share all of this work & the difference it’s genuinely making.

To make the shift from treatment to prevention, we need a wealth of people trained in public health skills.
Next week, we will be launching a new educational offering aimed at supporting the workforce to develop these skills and further their careers.

Being an effective change agent isn't just about making change happen. It's also about learning, reflecting & growing our own understanding & capabilities. So I loved "Action inquiry: a learning approach for systems change", a new (free) publication from @SystemChangeSch. It covers:
1) An overview of action inquiry: it comes from the same roots as action research, but it is aimed at change practitioners who seek to build learning into their work as a systemic practice;
2) Framings: ways of thinking that can help shape how we see & interpret information, our own experience & opportunities to change the world;
3) Embodying action inquiry as a continual, life long process of learning, growing & evolving: it helps us to reshape who we are, how we show up & how we engage with the systems around us:
