Good morning fine people of 𝕏 ☕️☀️ The debate continues this morning following the polarizing interpretations of last night’s “He gets us” SuperBowl ad. “Jesus Didn’t Teach Hate. He washed feet” the ad says. Both true. He did not teach hate. He washed His Disciples feet. However, when half of society thinks “please don’t k**l your unborn child” or “The Bible says ___ is a sin”, is “hate”, we have a Very serious problem. On one side of the debate, we have those who just loved all the woke symbolism and concluded something to the effect of: “It’s simply about Christians being kind to everyone. He just loves us no matter what. Keep doing whatever you’re doing. It’s OK. He gets it” On the other side of the debate, those who feel this portrayed that exact last part- “keep doing what you’re doing. It’s ok”, and that’s wrong. My problem continues to be that Jesus Christ never jumped into the middle of the sin, washed feet, and then left things the way He found them. Nor would He call His followers to simply wash everyone’s feet and then send them right back to doing what they’re doing. But THIS is why we have “churches” who literally ignore parts of their Bible to affirm sin. THIS is why we have so-called “reverends” saying ab*rti*n is OK. There is this 21st century mentality that “anything goes” and that the calling of the Christian is simply to create an environment of kindness in which to sin, and that maybe through osmosis, without uttering a word of the Gospel, that kindness will make people want Jesus. Yes, we are to be kind; to show love for the lost; to reach out to the broken; to feed the hungry. But… and the part that fired me up the most… this idea that we should be outside of planned parenthood just washing feet, and somehow THAT might change the outcome, does not sit well with me- as if Jesus would have just washed her feet and sent her in there to do the deed, or took her by the hand and said “let’s do this”. No. And if you need a little Bible to pickup what I’m putting down, here you go- Ephesians 5:11-14 “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.” 2Timothy4:2 “2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” Reprove—to express disapproval of; censure Rebuke—to blame or scold in a sharp way; reprimand.
