Yes, I play AFLW and am reading this thread on a 14 hour night shift as a paramedic, then off to training. Incredible insight from Rob though 😂

A 5:30pm finish turned into overtime and a 7:30pm arrival at training. This is the reality many elite female athletes are facing. *sorry Soph, but we finished on time today 😉 *

Our athletes are more than just that. Sophie Alexander arrived at training tonight straight from a full days work as a paramedic.

Not the ideal preparation you want however, I’m not alone in this, with players using their annual leave to play over the next 11 days. Not to mention the huge sacrifice West Coast and Fremantle players and staff have made by relocating to Melbourne.

Collingwood’s Erica Fowler worked a 14-hour overnight shift at her “day job” then headed to training that night, three days before the biggest AFLW game of the season so far. This is life for semi-pros in Covid-19 times. codesports.com.au/afl/aflw/a… @codesportsau @CollingwoodAFLW
