New year. Same mission. We are Team Tubman! #growinginexcellence 🐯
Your @HarrietTubmanES P.E.A.M.S. team is ready for another amazing school year!
We ended the school year with a BANG… or should we say a BOOM! 🌋💥 After weeks of planning and building, our 4th graders finally got to erupt their volcanoes. The excitement (and the smiles!) made for the perfect way to wrap up an amazing year in STEM.
Innovation was on full display at our @HarrietTubmanES 3rd Grade @KIDMuseumMD Showcase! So proud of our students’ creativity, collaboration, and problemsolving! #STEM #TigerPride #KIDINVENTORS #ElectricExplorers
So many fun projects happening as we wrap up our first year of STEM @HarrietTubmanES ! 1st grade is planting seedlings 🌱 they germinated in sprout houses, 2nd grade is tackling a paper house build challenge, and 4th grade is getting messy with DIY paper mâché volcanoes 🌋.
Our 4th graders self selected their unit to build & code using LEGO Spike Essentials. So much creativity, teamwork, and fun happening in our classroom today!

Historian Anthony Cohen visited Tubman ES today to share about #FreedomWalk2026. Mr. Cohen will soon begin a very special walk, with the Harriet Tubman statue, from Maryland to Canada to mark the 250th anniversary of our country.

So honored and excited to serve the Fox Chapel community!
Our kindergarten scientists @HarrietTubmanES explored the dandelion life cycle today. They recreated diagrams, observed plant parts under a microscope, examined real dandelions with magnifying glasses, and even painted their own dandelions 🌼.
Our 3rd graders were electrical ⚡️engineers today! They built closed & open circuits using a battery pack, LED light, and alligator clips. Then they tested different materials to see which ones could conduct electricity 💡 Thanks @KIDMuseumMD for this hands on investigation.
Our scientists in 1st grade @HarrietTubmanES tested which “beak” works best! Using straws (warbler beak🐤) or cups (duck beak🦆 ) to pick up “food” (cut straws) vs. “rocks” (beans), they explored how animal features aid in survival. Thanks @MysterySci for this great lesson!
3rd grade has officially kicked off their fist lesson using the KidInventor lessons from @KIDMuseumMD. Students had to make an animal object that you can wear on your head, neck, or arm.

An absolute honor to attend the 3rd Annual Youth Anti-Racist Film Festival and view the moving and powerful films created by @mspscholars students, which our chapter @HarrietTubmanES was a finalist for! So incredibly proud of our young filmmakers! @EricaFields_ @CSconnect_MCPS
🎬✨ Tomorrow: Youth Anti-Racist Film Festival
Saturday, Feb. 21, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center, Montgomery College, Takoma Park.
See student-made films that showcase creativity and push for positive change in schools and communities.
4th graders @HarrietTubmanES are celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth in STEM by learning about George Washington Carver! 🌱 After exploring his work in agriculture, students were challenged to sketch, design, and tinker a tool he might’ve used as an agricultural scientist & inventor.
From reading to building! Our first graders @HarrietTubmanES learned about the Maya civilization in literacy and then designed their own temples in STEM. When designing they had to include steps, layers, balance, and pyramid shape. Learning is even better when it’s hands on!
