Spent the whole day winning his trust and his, mine. Rode a full blown equine obstacle course, rode out a rainstorm, complete with a lake ride only to end up with a one boot stuck in stirrup dismount gone wrong. His response to my epic fall and shout as I crashed to the ground with a twist of my knee is indicative of 2 things- a 1200lb horse who was trained as an unbroken creation and the trust I clearly have of both him and his trainer. We bonded. He didn’t trample me. He didn’t spook. He didn’t drag me. He didn’t move an inch. Not one. He stood there as I lay on the ground laughing, a bit embarrassed. My pride a little hurt- I was so grateful for our mutual trust my first instinct was to hug him and love on him. Most would say I’m crazy. And while that may be true, those same people will never have the soul moments I have with these exemplary creatures.
