America’s refiners and petrochemical manufacturers rely on freight rail to move our products where they need to go — but a proposed merger between two of the last freight railroads could raise costs and erode service.
Our President and CEO @CThompsonAFPM co-authored a blog post with @JahnChris, President and CEO of @AmChemistry, and @EricR_ACD, President and CEO of the @ACD_chem, arguing trade associations deserve to have a voice in this critical conversation.
For the record, it sucks being a Giants fan. Miserable.
Breaking: Further testing today revealed Giants QB Jaxson Dart’s knee injury is worse than initially thought, and the team and Dart now are facing the possibility of season-ending knee surgery, sources tell ESPN.
Of all the QB injuries suffered in Week 2, Dart’s is turning out to easily be the most significant.

Chemical distribution depends on freight rail to deliver essential products that keep supply chains moving and the American economy running. If this merger is approved, it would increase shipping costs, further degrade service, and disrupt critical supply chains at a time when ACD members are already facing persistent freight rail service challenges.
ACD is proud to stand with @AmChemistry and leading shipper organizations in calling on the Surface Transportation Board to reject the proposed Union Pacific Railroad–Norfolk Southern merger.
ACC joined major shipper groups to call on the STB to deny the proposed UP-NS merger. The application failed to clear the first hurdle. The railroads did not show that this merger would enhance competition, benefit customers, or serve the public interest. americanchemistry.com/chemis…

The STB accepted the UP-NS merger application, but serious concerns remain.
ACD’s @EricR_ACD: “An application can meet procedural requirements while still threatening competition, service reliability, and the interests of shippers and consumers. STB’s request for additional information underscores the continued lack of transparency and calls into question the completeness and credibility of the entire proposal.” Learn more: acd-chem.com/media-center/pr…
