I had one heck of a Saturday morning break with my friend @EricBCards. 🔥
Full case Prism PYT did not disappoint.
Happy ripping! ⚾️

Yo @PaniniAmerica, why couldnt I redeem this? Said it's expired, but It's still 8/28/2026???
I could not possibly care less about Julio Rodriguez losing focus on the 8th inning of a 19-0 game.
The #mariners are an unserious franchise with an unserious front office and unserious manager with an unserious approach to hitting.
Let's worry about those things.

2026 Topps Finest MLB Analysis and Deep Dive
For some reason, it feels like there are more eyeballs on Finest than usual. And I’m guessing that has a lot to do with the new guy in the lineup- Mr. Mega Box.
Traditionally a fairly limited Hobby only release, the addition of technically 3 new SKUs (First Day Issue, Breaker's Delight, Megas) already has Finest purists up in arms. On the other side, an affordable retail format has some collectors thrilled they might be able to enjoy a premium-ish product without blowing the budget.
I get both sides. But my lane is not to take a side. My lane is to use numbers and data to punch that argument in the face.
Is Finest still Finest? Or did it go the way of Panini Select and sell its soul just to collect those sweet retail dollars?
The people have questions. After freediving into this odds sheet, I'm coming up for air. And I have answers.
Welcome to 2026 Finest Baseball.
Quick aside: If you get anything out of these deep dives at all, please consider following me on Substack. I have over 140 new product breakdowns in one easily searchable archive. And it's the best way to show your support.
substack.com/@slabsquatch
Part 1: The Basics
Finest baseball drops tomorrow, July 8th.
Hobby- $350/box
Mega- $70/box
First Day Issue boxes sold out at $800 via Dutch Auction, but since that ship has sailed, I won't be including it in any value metrics. It wouldn't earn any podium spots anyway.
Also very relevant, Breaker's Delight boxes are generally only available via secondary market, so I don't expect prices to be favorable when they pop up. But spoiler alert...this Delight SKU is definitely doing Delight SKU things.
Part 2: Production Numbers
Total cards in the product:
15,844,620
2025 Finest total cards:
3,843,400
YOY +312%
How about that for a introduction? AKA "The Mega Box Effect". Over 4× production vs 2025.
Total production by format:
Hobby- 64,953 boxes (8,119 cases) -----> YOY +1.4%
FDI- 1,016 boxes (127 cases)
Breaker's Delight- 10,296 boxes (1,716 cases)
Megas- 245,490 boxes (12,275 cases)
As you can see, Hobby production is almost exactly the same as 2025. All three other formats were just scabbed on top, resulting in the most robust Finest odds sheet in history.
Part 3: Heat Map
Hit Rates per box:
Hobby- 2 autos, 8.75 inserts, 11.6 parallels, 4.25 numbered cards
(Notably, 2025 Finest produced 20.15 parallels/box & 6.1 numbered cards. So those are down noticeably YOY.)
FDI- 2 autos (including one FDI exclusive /11), 8.8 inserts, 13.7 parallels, 6.4 numbered cards (including 2 FDI exclusive /11)
Breaker's Delight- 2 autos, 1.5 inserts, 7 parallels (including base Geometrics), 5.1 numbered cards
Megas- 1 auto per 2.87 boxes, 5.3 inserts/box, 6.5 parallels/box (including 5 Mini Diamond), 1.6 numbered cards/box
This is a good time to notice how solid Mega Box metrics appear. Now keep that in your back pocket. We'll get back to it.
Part 4: Value Map
Prices based on launch day pricing of $350/hobby & $70 Megas. I didn't want to leave out the fat kid, so I'm drawing a number out of thin air for Breaker's Delight. That number is $600/box. I will be very interested in seeing what they actually show up for, but this should give us a basis for comparison.
$/card:
1) Megas- $1.46
2) Hobby- $5.83
3) Breaker's- $60.00
$/parallel:
1) Mega- $10.74
2) Hobby- $30.15
3) Breaker's- $87.34 (Parallels include base Geometrics.)
$/auto:
1) Hobby- $166.67
2) Mega- $200.57
3) Breaker's- $300.00
$/# card:
1) Mega- $43.21
2) Hobby- $82.35
3) Breaker's- $117.88
$/numbered auto:
1) Hobby- $347.66
2) Breaker's- $390.22
3) Mega- $422.08
$/rare insert:
1) Mega- $766.50
2) Hobby- $2800.00
3) Breaker's- $4,602.00
$/Quality Hit (Parallels & Inserts /75 or less, Case Hit level or rarer inserts, Autos /100 or less):
1) Breaker's- $100.98
2) Hobby- $130.45
3) Mega- $132.14
Part 5: We Gotta Go Deeper
I understand the above value list is a walking contradiction. But let's go a little deeper...past all the surface nonsense.
During my research, there were a couple more stats that really stood out and gave me high hopes for Megas.
Percentage of numbered Autos in Megas (47.5%) is almost identical to Hobby boxes (47.9%). They both fall far behind Breaker's at 76.9% and FDI at 74%. But you wouldn't expect Megas to be on par with Hobby boxes in regard to autos.
The only problem is, despite what the numbers say, Megas are FAR behind Hobby in regard to autos.
You see, in a move that would make Panini proud, Topps slipped in a little Auto subset called "Finest Mega Autos" that are exclusive to Megas. Out of an atrocious 86-card checklist, the best names you can hope to pull are probably Ronald Acuna, Sal Stewart, Vladdy Jr, and a very borderline Roki Sasaki. This checklist is abysmal.
Oh, and guess what... 88% of the autos you pull from Megas will be from this barren wasteland of a checklist. Let that marinate.
Generally speaking, the other auto subsets aren't what you might call dense with superstars, but they're in there. The main auto checklist, Finest Autographs, has a blistering 159 subjects, and as you can imagine there are some true space fillers included.
I have to point out, there really are some loaded auto subsets- Finest Moments, Finest Ink, & Gustographs to name a few. But as hard as it is to pull a desirable auto from Hobby or Breaker's, I assure you it will be 10× harder from Megas.
Part 6: The Rare Insert Conundrum
Notice on the Value Map how it looks magnitudes more cost effective to pull a rare insert from Megas?
Yeah. About that.
First, keep in mind my definition of “Rare Inserts” is simply case-hit level or rarer. That does not always mean the print run is microscopic. And, as always, some are far more desirable than others.
In this release, rare inserts would be:
Aura
Gusto
Headliners
Nightmare Fuel
Smashing Through
The Man
This list is STACKED. These will be some of the most desirable pulls in the product. I'm a huge fan of Aura, Headliners, and The Man. Nightmare Fuel is new and dripping with potential, though it would be miles better if the players actually had appropriate poses and didn't just look goofy.
The numbers tell us Rare Inserts will combine to fall almost precisely 1 per 8 box hobby case. This does not mean you are guaranteed to pull a rare insert from a case. But law of averages says you will.
For Breaker's Delight, that is 1 per ~7.7 boxes, but those are 6-box cases. So I wouldn't expect to see a Rare Insert in every Delight case.
For Megas, astoundingly the math works out to 1 Rare Insert per 10.95 boxes, or almost 2 per case. When I saw this, I could barely contain my excitement. Do we have Bowman Blasters 2.0 on our hands?
Sadly, no. We got trolled again.
You see, Topps slipped in two rather tough inserts that are Mega Box exclusives. And I truly don't think anyone will be doing backflips over "Finest Forces" and "Finest Futures". I could be wrong. But probably not.
These two Inserts combine for 92.4% of the rare inserts you can expect to pull from Megas.
So, you remember that sweet list of potential rare inserts I noted? From Megas, those will actually combine to fall 1 per 144.5 boxes, or 1 in every 7.225 cases.
But on the bright side, you will find 1.7 Finest Forces or Finest Futures per case. So there's that.
Part 7: Can We End This Thing Yet?
We're all the way in the weeds now, but I thought it appropriate so my followers don't get fooled by the Mega Box conspiracy.
The numbers tell us Hobby boxes at $350 are the best way to pull almost everything- parallels, all the desirable inserts, and autos. Hobby will be less potent than last year as it's been somewhat de-parallelified.
Even though I may have bagged on Megas excessively, they are not disastrous. They shouldn't be something you go hard on expecting great things to happen. But they could be fun in small quantities, especially from a numbered card perspective. And with the Mini Diamonds exclusive to the format, there is definitely rare hit potential.
Honestly, the truncated tiered checklist helps Megas greatly. With their strong suit being 1.6 numbered cards/box, it's much easier to hit the best names in parallels. If not for that, we'd be looking at the same dynamics as Platinum Chrome Megas (similar hit rates, similar autos) except at $70 rather than $30.
Also, I expect Megas to be extremely popular. If you find yourself stopping by the Target shelf on a baby formula trip, what other retail option are you going to pick over Finest?
Platinum Chrome & Bowman are all but dried up. So what’s left? Signature Class? Year-old Stadium Club?
Trust me, these will sell. Not every Walmart buyer is in tune with the intricacies of Topps product dynamics like you degenerates are.
Part 8: What Would the Squatch Do?
The Squatch digs a little Finest and wouldn't mind ripping a couple boxes.
It's probably not stashworthy for me, but I don't fault someone for putting a few away. It's certainly not going down in price.
I think the Wild Card here is Delight boxes. They don't score super well on all the metrics. They never do. But the "$ per Quality Hit" is tasty. It's worth noting that I included Base Geometrics as a Quality Hit as their print runs are super low.
It really depends on what price they drop at. For <$600, they could be sneaky good if you're feeling saucy. More than that, I'm leaning Hobby. But only at or very near drop pricing. $500 and I'm out.
That's a wrap for the Squatch.

2026 Bowman Mega Boxes and Updated Base Numbers
Big shoutout to Lids for releasing Megas 2 weeks early. A couple legends were cool enough to post their Mega rips online already. That's all the Squatch needs. This gives us enough data to publish numbers on Mega Boxes.
For transparency, I made a run to my local Lids today to “verify findings”, for science. Walk in ready to join the party and shelves were wiped. Apparently a company-wide memo came down telling stores to yank Megas and sit on them until release day. Gotta love when random retail spots try to cosplay as an LCS, even though they haven't the faintest idea when it comes to sports cards.
Our big questions were:
1) One Mojo per pack or two?
Answer: 2.. Win for us.
2) 1st Bowman Autos?
Answer: still cloudy. I have not seen any yet, but still possible. This will not affect any numbers. But it will affect actual value of the format.
Total production of Megas:
713,325 boxes (35,666 cases)
YOY +18.9%
Of course, we already knew production numbers. Really the only thing this changes for us is Mojo Base calculations and Hit Rates.
Mega Box Hit rates:
1 auto per 5.4 boxes (3.7 autos/case) 16.3 parallels/box, 1.4 inserts/box. 0.8 numbered cards/box
Base Mojos Print Run:
~71,300 ea
So how does this news affect Mega Values?
Adding more Mojo refractors than expected is definitely a good thing. Sure, the print run is a little higher. Up from ~49,200 ea last year, this represents a 45% increase year over year. But I doubt this will affect values much.
Counting base Mojos as parallels, this brings the parallels per Mega box up to 16.3. This is solid. And by far the lowest $ per parallel of any format for Bowman. Second behind only Value Boxes in numbered cards as well.
Overall, Megas are a better buy than originally anticipated. If we find out, by some small chance, that there are also 1st Bowman Autos in Megas (I'd be shocked, but still technically possible), they would be a no-brainer buy. As is, they're still a solid format for floor value, probably slightly behind Value Boxes due to the lack of rare insert potential.
Now on to everyone's favorite...
Base Card Print Runs
Until now, all I had was a total for all base cards. This included Paper Base, Paper Prospects, and Chrome Prospect Base. Now, using pack dynamics, we are able to delineate those totals and come close to base print runs for each.
Base Paper: ~375,000 ea
Base Paper Prospects: ~255,000 ea
Base Chrome Prospects: ~192,000 ea
This should put a bow on 2026 Bowman.
If you’ve been following, you already know where the Squatch has stood since odds dropped...Value Boxes. The name actually means something this time. And now that real world rips are rolling in, it’s not just a theory anymore.
I honestly can’t remember another release where $100+ cards popped out of Value Boxes this consistently.
Hobby how you hobby… but if I see them in the wild, I’m not walking by without grabbing what I can. This is one call I'm happy to be right about.
Good luck out there.

2) Topps already jacked up the presale prices. There will be less room than you think to make money.
Here's my list (not in order) of top rookies to chase in 2026 Topps series 2. Preorder dropping on May 11th.
