Pulling aluminium out of bauxite leaves toxic red mud, and 4 billion tonnes of it sits in dams around the world.

Exultant Mining (ASX: 10X) has gone back over a copper find two explorers walked away from in 1974.
The ground runs 2.4km through hills west of Sydney and has never had a drill hole in it.
Executive chairman Brett Grosvenor explains what the crew found & what comes next
The crew was still picking up copper and zinc at both ends of the 2.4 kilometres when the survey finished, and found a new patch of lead reading close to double the best 1970s number.
