EXCLUSIVE: Based on our satellite imagery analysis conducted on 2026-09-14, we can see that the Strait of Hormuz now hosts bi-directional daytime traffic of VLCC supertankers. Furthermore, greater volumes of crude oil, LNG and LPG are being exchanged via STS transfer in the Gulf of Oman.

With fighting renewed in September 2026, we've been going back through the map and updating a number of data points following the significant US strikes on Iranian tankers this month.
Tanker locations are very approximate, based on AIS data and @TankerTrackers reporting.

The five tankers struck tonight by the US Central Command are CHARMINAR (9318022), KAVIZ (9282041), HORIZON 1 (9130456), RIESCO (9251822) and the cargo-empty National Iranian Tanker Company VLCC supertanker DERYA (9569700). Combined, they have exported 45 million barrels of Iranian crude oil and refined products since May 2019.

CENTCOM forces destroyed five Iranian crude oil carriers, Sept. 8, after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted a U.S. Navy warship with ballistic missiles twice over the past two days. The U.S. warship successfully evaded the attempted Iranian attacks and continued to patrol regional waters. No American personnel were harmed.

A closer look at DERYA (9569700) shows that her two lifeboats were not lowered in the water prior to the strike. Instead, Kharg Island port authorities dispatched many tugboats and pilot vessels to her in order to bring the crew to shore. CENTCOM usually provides 3 hours notice.

Today at 12 p.m. ET, U.S. forces began striking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran. The strikes follow recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members deployed to the region.
We'll be logging all of the strikes tomorrow, when we see if it's just a pram toss due to the Larak strike, or the start of another wave

Iran Maintains the Initiative and Attacks US Base in Kuwait
Hours ago, Iranian drones struck the American base at Al-Doha, in northeastern Kuwait, maintaining the initiative in the conflict as I reported days ago.
Tehran appears to have missiles and drones to spare, to the point of disregarding any period of peace.
The game remains the same and will stay that way for some time.
What does this attack mean? That Iran has perceived Trump’s weakness in the face of the Saudi leader on the phone and is betting that the United States will not decide on a large-scale attack.
