Solar panels? ✅
Carbon reduction? ✅
Energy efficiency? ✅
Water conservation? 👀
For years, the sustainability conversation has largely centered on energy and carbon. But what about the billions of gallons of water flowing through our buildings every day?
Onsite water reuse offers developers an opportunity to reduce freshwater consumption, lower utility costs, and build long-term resilience.
It’s time we gave water the same attention. 💧
🍺 What does beer have to do with the future of water reuse? More than you might think.
We created Shower Hour IPA and Laundry Club Kölsch with @devilscanyon to tackle one of the biggest barriers facing recycled water: public perception.
By turning highly purified recycled water into something familiar (and delicious), we’re helping people experience firsthand just how safe and reliable advanced water treatment can be.

💧 “We have 19th century water laws, 20th century infrastructure, and 21st century problems.”
Our Co-Founder and CEO, Aaron Tartakovsky, joined @mollywood on the Everybody in the Pool podcast to talk about why buildings should be recycling their water.
Buildings account for roughly 15% of global freshwater use, yet very few reuse the water they already have. At the same time, water and sewer rates in many major cities are rising. By recycling water where it’s used, buildings can reduce freshwater demand, wastewater discharge, and utility costs..
And of course, they chat about the beer as well. 🍺

Epic Cleantec retweeted
San Francisco’s water reuse ordinance: “A lot of cities recognize now, especially in the western United States, that recycled water needs to be part of the long-term strategy,” @ATartakovsky of @EpicCleantec told Smart Cities Dive. smartcitiesdive.com/news/wat…
We had a great time teaming up with @SERAarchitects for an evening of water reuse education as part of Sustainable Building Week in Portland!
After the course, the conversation continued with a tour of SERA’s Portland office, light bites, and happy hour libations of all types, including our recycled water beer. 🍻
Thank you to SERA for hosting us and to everyone who joined us to learn, connect, and raise a glass to a more water-resilient future!

When we say we know our systems inside and out, we truly mean it. 👨🔧
The Epic O&M team recently performed a confined space entry at one of our local projects to clean and inspect a 50,000-gallon rainwater tank, helping keep the system in tip-top shape.
Behind every system is a team keeping things flowing. 🔧
We’re thrilled to share that Epic Cleantec’s OneWater™ Rain system has been named a winner of the 2026 @metropolismag Planet Positive Awards in the Technology category! 🏆
OneWater™ Rain captures, treats, and reuses rainwater and HVAC condensate to create a renewable onsite water supply for uses like irrigation, toilet flushing, cooling towers, and laundry.
This recognition celebrates an idea at the heart of everything we do at Epic: buildings can play an active role in creating a more resilient water future.
Thank you to Metropolis for the recognition, and to the partners, developers, and design teams building a more water-resilient future with Epic. 💧

“Every gallon we redirect reduces pressure on natural sources.” 💧
A recent feature from @hawaiibusiness Magazine takes a closer look at Hawai‘i’s growing water challenges and the role onsite water reuse can play in building a more resilient water future.
The article highlights Kuilei Place in Honolulu, where Epic Cleantec is working with Kobayashi Group and local partners to deliver Hawai‘i’s first onsite residential greywater reuse system. The system is expected to recycle up to 30,000 gallons of water per day and save 11 million gallons of potable water each year.
As Hawai‘i faces declining rainfall, drought, and increasing pressure on its aquifers, projects like this demonstrate how buildings can become part of the solution by treating water as a resource to be reused, rather than waste to be sent away.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Epic’s Sales Engineer Patty Valdes has been named a 2026 Next Gen All-Star by @PnMmag! 🌟
From her early work in decentralized wastewater treatment and municipal water infrastructure to helping advance onsite water reuse at Epic, Patty has built her career around a curiosity for how water systems work and how we can make them more practical, efficient, and resilient.

California’s water reuse landscape is changing. 💧🏢
With new statewide regulations for onsite treated non-potable water systems under SB 966, building owners, developers, and design teams have a clearer framework for how onsite water reuse systems should be designed, permitted, and operated.
But what does that actually mean for your project?
Our latest blog breaks down SB 966 in plain terms, including:
💧 What the new regulations require
🏗️ What they mean for new and existing systems
📅 Key compliance timelines for legacy systems
⚙️ How treatment trains and log-reduction targets work
📋 A checklist to help determine whether your system is on the right track

Last month, we welcomed 50 attendees from the WateReuse California Annual Conference to @Salesforce Tower for a behind-the-scenes look at the building’s onsite blackwater recycling system. 💧
The system treats wastewater right in the building’s basement and reuses it for toilet flushing and cooling tower makeup — reducing demand on San Francisco’s water supply and sewer infrastructure.
With both tours reaching capacity, it’s exciting to see the growing interest in building-scale water reuse. ♻️
Thank you to @WateReuseAssoci, @MySFPUC, @ebmud, and @Salesforce for making the tours possible!
And a special shoutout to the Epic team who helped make it happen. 👏
