The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool had aging pipes, cracked concrete and filtration problems. Trump’s administration spent over $14 million but didn't fix the infrastructure. Now it’s covered in algae and they're dumping 12% hydrogen peroxide in it. That’s the most perfect metaphor for modern Republican governance we've seen all year. Paint the surface. Ignore the problem. Try to fix the fuckup and blame somebody else.

❗️ The US and G7 countries will begin producing long-range missiles and air defense systems in Ukraine The landmark agreement will allow Western weapons to be manufactured in Ukraine under license, according to Le Parisien. For Kyiv, this means not just new deliveries, but the development of a large-scale domestic defense industry based on Western technologies. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that G7 partners will increase military and financial support for Ukraine while stepping up pressure on Moscow. According to him, for the first time since Donald Trump returned to power, the West has managed to reach a unified position on key security issues.

The Pat O’Leary Escape Line was run by Belgian doctor Albert Guérisse under the alias Pat O’Leary. This MI9 network helped over 600 Allied airmen escape occupied France via the Pyrenees. Betrayed and sent to concentration camps, Guérisse survived multiple tortures. His line became a lifeline for evaders across southern Europe. Tonight, please remember his bravery and commitment:

Arrived in Brussels. Ahead today is a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and tomorrow with Prime Minister of Belgium Bart De Wever. An audience with King Philippe of the Belgians is also scheduled. These are important days for strengthening our defense: there will be meetings with the defense ministers of the United Kingdom and Germany, a Ramstein meeting, and a meeting of the European Council. I thank everyone who is helping and supporting us. Europe must be strong and united. This will largely determine how this war ends.

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we report the loss of Lt. Col. Gregory M. Watson. Greg was one of eight Department of the Air Force team members who tragically lost their lives when a B-52 Stratofortress crashed during a test mission at Edwards Air Force Base on Monday. Greg spent nearly a decade as a cornerstone of the 307th bomb wing. From leading the 343rd Bomb Squadron to guiding Airmen in numerous leadership roles across the Wing, he was a mentor, a leader. As a Master Weapon Systems Officer with over 3,200 hours in the B-52H, his dedication to the mission was matched only by his devotion to the people he served alongside. Our thoughts, prayers, and support are with Greg's family and friends. We stand with you during this incredibly difficult time.

It was an honor to speak at the Men’s Health Conference on Capitol Hill. This Men’s Health Month, let’s recommit to raising awareness about the physical and mental health challenges facing men and boys. We must continue to encourage prevention, early detection, and access to care.

On 17 June 1940, more than 100,000 Red Army troops occupied independent Estonia. What followed were decades of terror, repression and lost freedom. Yet the occupiers never broke the Estonian people's will to be free. We do not forget. Never again. #NeverAloneAgain #WeAreNATO

Malygina Nadezhda Petrovna, a nurse and Guards Sergeant of the 1st Tank Battalion, 62nd Tank Brigade, served during the final phase of the Red Army’s advance into Austria in 1945. Her role, though often overshadowed by the more visible exploits of tank crews and infantry, was indispensable to the brigade’s ability to sustain offensive momentum during the last, intense weeks of the war. Soviet armoured units relied heavily on their medical personnel, who operated close to the front line, frequently under fire, and were expected to treat casualties in conditions that shifted from forested hills to shattered towns within hours. By 1945, the 62nd Tank Brigade—part of a Guards formation forged in earlier campaigns—was pushing through the eastern approaches to Vienna. Fighting in Austria was characterised by rapid manoeuvre, stiff local resistance, and the constant threat of ambushes from retreating German units. Nurses such as Malygina moved with the battalion’s forward elements, providing immediate care to wounded tankers and motorised infantry. Their tasks included stabilising blast injuries, burns, and shrapnel wounds, often inside improvised aid posts set up beside disabled vehicles or in captured farm buildings. The rank of Guards Sergeant indicates both experience and recognition. Medical personnel in Guards units were selected for reliability and composure, and Malygina’s presence in a frontline tank battalion reflects the Red Army’s reliance on women in critical support and combat‑adjacent roles. Her work required not only medical skill but the physical endurance to move casualties under fire and the resolve to operate in the claustrophobic, smoke‑filled aftermath of tank engagements. The photograph taken in Austria in 1945 captures a representative figure of the Soviet armoured medical service: calm, disciplined, and essential to the survival of the men she served alongside during the final push into Central Europe.
