Models are becoming a cheap commodity, and open-source repositories are closing the quality gap every month. At this point, the winner is not the one with smarter weights, but the one who holds the "last mile" to the user. OpenAI's shift to advertising monetization is not a subscription crisis, but the logical finale of the battle for ownership of the client interface. Semantic takeaway: If all software and intelligence tend toward zero marginality thanks to open code, what share in this chain will go to crypto protocols trying to decentralize inference?
distribution could end up being one of the biggest competitive advantages in AI as models get cheaper and open-source alternatives improve, i expect customer retention and distribution to matter a lot more OpenAI has already built massive consumer adoption, which creates opportunities to monetize beyond subscriptions through things like advertising the economics of AI labs are still evolving, but i think the value of owning the customer relationship is being underestimated

$APT Market Update: Buyers Target $1.00 Level Amid Sustained Accumulation Aptos (APT) is showing strong bullish momentum as buyers aggressively push the token back toward the key $1.00 psychological region. Since hitting its local lows in August, the asset has established a robust upward structure, highlighted by an impressive 74.5% vertical rally. On-chain and order-book behavior point to systematic accumulation by institutional-scale participants, creating higher lows and limiting downside volatility. While overall trading volumes have ticked up modestly relative to summer levels, price action remains highly constructive. Outlook: The baseline setup favors continued consolidation above the 200-day moving average (MA200) before the next directional expansion.

PayFi (Payment Finance): How Smart Contracts and Stablecoins Are Changing Global Payments In recent years, blockchain has gone from simple transfers to complex DeFi mechanisms. But the real revolution for the real sector is happening right now at the intersection of payments and decentralized finance. Meet PayFi (Payment Finance) — a concept that makes money programmable in time. If classic DeFi is focused on speculation and trading within the crypto market, then PayFi solves the fundamental problems of the traditional financial system (TradFi). What is the main essence of PayFi? In TradFi, money is tied to rigid time frames: transactions take days, acquiring fees eat into margins, and exporters wait weeks for payment. PayFi uses the speed and low fees of modern blockchains to manage the Time Value of Money with the help of smart contracts: Instant settlements: Payment to the seller happens in seconds, not in 3–5 banking days (T+3). Payment streaming: Wages or rent can be accrued per second as work is performed or property is used. Key use cases Factoring and supply chain financing: A small business can instantly obtain liquidity collateralized by future receivables through a smart contract, without going through months of bank checks. Buy Now, Pay Never (BNPN) based on yield: The buyer deposits yield-bearing assets into a smart contract. The generated interest automatically pays for the purchase or subscription, while the principal capital remains with the user. Global micropayments for AI agents: Autonomous AI agents can pay each other fractions of a cent for API requests or resources in real time without human involvement or intermediaries. Why is this happening right now? The rise of stablecoins: Dollar stablecoins have become the standard of international trade. Cheap infrastructure: High-performance blockchains have reduced transaction costs to a fraction of a cent, making micropayments economically viable. Integration with giants: Traditional payment services and acquirers are actively implementing direct crypto settlements. PayFi is the transition from "crypto as an investment" to "crypto as settlement rails." The technology is quietly embedding itself into everyday commerce, removing unnecessary intermediaries and unlocking capital that was previously frozen while waiting for bank transfers. What do you think — will programmable payment streaming become the standard for everyday salaries and subscriptions in the coming years?

The Gaming Industry at a Crossroads: Why the AAA Gaming Industry Is in Crisis and What Is Saving It If you follow gaming, you've surely noticed a strange paradox: blockbuster budgets are breaking the ceiling at $200–300 million, development lasts 6–8 years, and what players get at release is increasingly either safe sequels or raw releases with aggressive monetization. At the same time, modest indie projects and games from small studios are gathering million-strong audiences and taking the main awards. What is happening to the gaming industry? The Trap of Ultra-Budgets When developing a single game costs as much as a Hollywood blockbuster, publishers can't afford to take risks. As a result, original ideas are cut off already at the pitching stage, and only "proven formulas" go into production: open world, grind, live-service elements, and endless sequels. The "AA" Phenomenon and the Indie Revolution Players are tired of the conveyor belt. The main hits of recent years are projects made with soul and original mechanics, rather than with photorealistic-level graphics: Small teams focused on gameplay and unique art design are confidently outperforming the giants. The "AA games" segment (medium budgets, creative freedom) is experiencing a second birth, offering exactly what many fell in love with games for: dynamism, a bold setting, and respect for the player's time. Artificial Intelligence as a Lifeline AI tools are beginning to change the development cycle: Accelerating routine tasks (texture generation, rough voiceover, bug hunting) makes it possible to reduce costs and cut development time from 7 years to an adequate 3–4. This gives medium and small studios a chance to produce high-level visuals without inflating their staff to thousands of people. A Shift Toward Hybrid Models The "buy a game for $70" model combined with microtransactions is causing more and more negativity. The industry is shifting toward subscription services (Game Pass and analogues) and niche games with honest one-time payment and no hidden charges. We are witnessing a healing shift: the era when a game's success required only inflating the budget and drawing beautiful textures is coming to an end. The winners in the coming years will be those who bet on innovative gameplay, strong narrative, and direct communication with the community. And what do you play more of right now: big AAA releases or original indie and AA games?

If Wall Street starts methodically buying up every dip, there will be no more long crypto winters, and targets like $100,000 by the end of the year and $1 million by 2030 will become just intermediate stops. Do you believe that the influx of big money will permanently cancel prolonged bear markets, or is Bitcoin's cyclicality embedded in the very nature of the market?
Could Bitcoin hit $600,000 by 2029? Veteran trader @PeterLBrandt shares his Bitcoin outlook, says further interest rate hikes would have little effect on its price, and calls XRP a “fool coin.” “XRP can be effectively used for transactional purposes, cheaply,” he says. Watch the new #TRADESECRETS episode with @itsciaranlyons: 00:00 - Intro 01:30 - Do you still expect Bitcoin to bottom in October? 05:30 - What negative catalyst could trigger another Bitcoin drop? 09:10 - Is $100,000 by year-end a realistic scenario for Bitcoin? 11:45 - Could Bitcoin reach $1 million by 2030? 18:00 - What is the better short-term play: AI stocks or Bitcoin? 20:30 - How would further interest rate hikes impact Bitcoin? 23:00 - Will institutional demand change Bitcoin’s boom-and-bust cycle? 25:35 - What is your current view on XRP? 28:30 - Could quantum computing threats ultimately push Bitcoin’s price to zero?

I just tried chase orders on another perp dex for the first time, trying to buy an extremely illiquid coin. For similar reasons I guess they may become useful on long-tail equities on QFEX. Does anyone have any opinions on them? We would probably implement with optional diming, and also not on the browser side, so they would stay persistent even when you close down the browser session. If anyone has any strong thoughts on chase orders UX, DM me.

So much interesting data here. - (Sep 7) Astra's spend increase is almost all additive (ie it takes away from Anthropic not from Sol/Terra/Luna). Fable 5.1's share is cannibalizing (ie it takes away from Fable 5 / Opus 5) - (Sep 7) 20% of Anthropic spend is on older generation models vs only ~7% on OpenAI. Interesting to see so many people are sticking to the 4.X series of Anthropic models. Perhaps the new models are too expensive? Perhaps Anthropic still has significant Haiku share (doubtful)? - (Sep 7) Sonnet 5 does 20% more tokens than Opus 5 but 1/3 the spend. Terra 5.6 does 1/4 fewer tokens than Sol 5.6 and 1/4 the spend. I don't even know what to make of this - sonnet is the better "deal" vs Terra? - (July 27) Dropping Luna's price by 80% massively increased OAI's token share. Today, OpenAI does 5x the tokens of Anthropic. Models ecosystems have real vendor lock-in (ie it's easy to switch from Luna to Terra/Sol, but a lot harder to switch to Anthropic). Making Luna a loss leader is a genius strategy by OAI and the data already shows signs it could be working: after Luna price drop in week of July 27, Terra tokens and spend almost doubled and Sol spend also increased. Correlation, not causation, but certainly something here.
Share of wallet (dollars spent) vs share of tokens used. Anthropic vs OpenAI Astra = top model by spend last week Luna = top model by tokens (by a LOT)

Blackrock is bull posting the crypto x AI intersection, positioning the technologies as two sides of the same coin. Some of us have been saying this for a while, and I’m really glad to see this framework going mainstream. Higher.
Our latest research paper explores the growing connection between AI and digital assets and explains why broad AI adoption may drive new demand, utility and applications across the digital asset economy. blackrock.com/us/individual/…
