I’m in love with this sentence:

Spiritual leaders must have both theological alertness and relational warmth. They also need theological warmth and relational alertness.

In May 1968 I was a hippy Marxist and I supported the Paris riots by leftists. Roger Scruton was there at the time and rejected the left. 3 years later I followed suit and rejected it as well. See link below:

What we see going on in Europe is without doubt going to be seen increasingly in Australia and America (it already is, in fact). Ted Cruz is not ignorant of what is happening: “We are witnessing Islamists right now burning Paris because Europe has committed cultural suicide. We should look to France as foreshadowing for what America faces if we don’t stop this here. We are fighting to save our nation.”
Hymn book, circa 1896, by Ira D. Sankey! Found at thrift shop for $2.00. Good condition for its age! I have on display on a shelf in my library now.

It took many centuries to build Western civilisation. It is now being torn down in a matter of days. As Will and Ariel Durant in The Lessons of History wrote: “Civilization is not inherited; it has to be learned and earned by each generation anew; if the transmission should be interrupted for one century, civilization would die, and we should be savages again.” Or as Roger Scruton correctly observed: “Good things are easily destroyed, but not easily created… The work of destruction is quick, easy and exhilarating; the work of creation is slow, laborious and dull. That is one of the lessons of the twentieth century.”

Don't let anyone shame you for standing up for the essentials of the faith.

I'm baffled by what's happening at @CTmagazine. The layoffs, change of leadership and now this?
If you're going to publicly question a public figure's sexuality, especially someone who's passed, you better have solid evidence as a basis for it. CT didn't. Then, publishing, removing and republishing. 🤦🏻♀️ This certainly does not inspire trust in either the new or old guard.

France is in flames and Europe is falling. At times like this I always think of these powerful words by Francis Schaeffer penned in 1984:
Do not take this lightly! It is a horrible thing for a man like myself to look back and see my country and my culture go down the drain in my own lifetime. It is a horrible thing that sixty years ago you could move across this country and almost everyone, even non-Christians, would have known what the gospel was. A horrible thing that fifty to sixty years ago our culture was built on the Christian consensus, and now this is no longer the case. Once again I would refer to Romans 1:21, 22: “although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.”
