Honored to have hosted the first Vana Meetup here in Davao last year. It was a meaningful event where we learned together, shared ideas, and introduced a project that could reshape how the world thinks about data. Thanks to our community partners @bitskwela @BitDigestdaily for this opportunity.
What is Vana?
Vana is an open protocol designed to give people real ownership and control of their data.
Today, our data is mostly stored and controlled by big platforms. Vana flips this model by allowing users to keep their information private, choose who can access it, and actually benefit from the data they create.
With Vana, users can:
- Store and manage their own data securely
- Allow apps or researchers to access specific data only with permission
- Join Data Liquidity Pools where users can pool data for AI training while staying anonymous
- Earn value from the data they choose to share
- Help build user-owned AI models instead of models controlled only by large companies
Vana makes it possible for individuals to participate in the AI economy without giving up privacy. It brings together secure personal data storage, blockchain technology, and tokenized data rights so users stay in control while still contributing to innovative AI development.

Over 480 students and professionals came together for the OpenxAI Vibe Coding Workshop, an inspiring event organized by the government through DICT Region 10 in partnership with @DavaoDefi, @CertifikaNuxify, and @OpenxAINetwork.
This collaborative workshop provided participants with hands-on experience in no-code AI and blockchain development, reflecting the growing enthusiasm and capability of our local talent to embrace emerging technologies.
As a co-founder of @DavaoDefi, a @base contributor, and a member of the OpenxAI team, it was a privilege to be part of an initiative that empowers the tech community and helps drive innovation forward in our region. 🇵🇭

Together, we can cultivate world-class Filipino builders and Web3 startups, placing the Philippines on the global map as a builder nation.
Mindanao is already taking its steps and initiatives, empowering local builders and students to take part in this growing movement. Our peers like Argentina, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam have shown what’s possible. It’s high time for the Philippines to step up and play in the big leagues.

OpenxAI powers University of Southern Mindanao's first ever Blockchain Program.
Over 150 students built AI-powered apps on Base with @basepilipinas and @DavaoDefi.
OpenxAI led the workshop on Hack Node integration, real-time AI inference, onchain AI agents, and Global Hackathon project ideation. Students shipped functional prototypes and earned direct invites to compete.
Mindanao builders are now live onchain.
