Let’s imagine you’re at home… you’ve spent years tidying up, setting rules, teaching the kids not to smash things, and slowly turning a chaotic house into somewhere peaceful. You paid the bills, fixed the leaks, enforced “shoes off at the door,” and built a culture where people generally don’t steal the cutlery or start fights in the kitchen. Then people start arriving because your house is nicer than theirs. Fair enough. But they don’t ask permission. They don’t follow the rules you spent decades establishing. They track mud through the clean rooms, invite more relatives without checking if there’s space, ignore the “no extra wives” notice on the fridge, and treat your living room like the place they just left. Of course some guests are very respectful, follow your rules, help pay the bills etc… But when you mention the house is getting wrecked and some of the new arrivals seem more interested in changing your rules than adapting to them, you’re told you just don’t understand why anyone would want to move from a rundown shack into a working home. The real problem, apparently, is you for noticing the mess. You sit there paying the higher bills, watching the furniture get rearranged, and wondering when “your house” stopped being yours.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ DOES IT MAKE FUCKING SENSE YET?

The law does not give you a licence to carry whatever you want. It does recognise that when an attack is already happening, a person may use the force reasonably required to stop death or serious harm to themselves or someone they are protecting. That justification can acquit on the violence. It usually does not cancel an illegal-possession charge. I am not telling anyone to carry a weapon. I am saying the carry and the defence are two different questions, and a father should not have to die in a queue for people to admit that.

The law states if your life is in imminent danger, you may use whatever force nessasery to fend off an attack. In the UK, they make it nearly impossible to be prepared for such situations. Even pepper spray is banned. Random question: Is it better to be dead? Or in prison for defending yourself?
