13 years ago, David Ortiz completely flipped the ALCS with one swing of the bat off Joaquin Benoit. Down 5-1 in the 8th and on the verge of going down 0-2 to the Tigers… Ortiz had other plans. Torii Hunter then flipped over the bullpens and Steve Horgan became a Boston legend.

This Day in GN'R History: October 13, 1993 - Geffen sent out a press release for the Guns N' Roses cover album, "The Spaghetti Incident?" - In the liner notes a message from the band says: "A great song can be found anywhere. Do yourself a favor and go find the originals."

Guns N' Roses posing with Arnold Schwarzenegger inside the Limelight club in New York City on June 6, 1991. Photographed by Gene Kirkland, this shot was taken on the set of the You Could Be Mine music video for Terminator 2: Judgment Day. James Cameron personally selected the hard-hitting track for the film, and Schwarzenegger arrived in full T-800 biker gear, complete with dark shades and a prop shotgun resting right in front of Slash. 🎸 At the conclusion of the music video, the Terminator scans Axl Rose, evaluates his threat level, and declares him a waste of ammo before walking away. Do you remember watching that iconic scene when the video debuted on MTV? 🎸 👇️

If today put you in the "Use Your Illusion" mood, don't forget there's a new book out about it! "Estranged: Guns N' Roses & Use Your Illusion" is meticulously researched by author Geoff Harkness. Geoff explained to us why he took a deep dive into GN'R at their height.

Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin each wrote a different song called “14 Years.” Then they discovered the coincidence and stitched them into one. It landed on Use Your Illusion II in 1991, sung by Izzy, about the 14 years he and Axl had been friends. He quit months later.

¡Aguante GN’R!

35 years ago today, Guns N’ Roses released Use Your Illusion I and II. Two albums arriving on the same day, filled with hard rock, piano, ballads and ambition. They could have repeated Appetite for Destruction. Instead, they showed how far the band could go. What’s your favorite track?
