When I worked in the comic industry, there seemed to be two camps in Editorial regarding comic book fans. One saw them as a buncha lovable goofs. The other, who championed Comics as more of a High Art Form, saw them as smelly embarrassing Rorschachs. Some of this was classism.

No, the purpose of entertainment is to entertain. As soon as it becomes about pointing you to how someone says you should live, it stops being entertainment and becomes propaganda. And then audiences reject it. Just like they reject it when leftists do it.
To all of you "story realists" out there. Go ahead and unfollow me. Or block. I don't care. You pervert fantasy in the same manner as George R. R. Martin. Don't like the fact that prefer Romantic Chivalry over "story realism" ?? Fuck you. I don't care.

Malfoid disproves the claim people hate her more than Voldemort because she’s a woman. Gender swapping Draco produced a character everyone liked more. People hate her because 99% of us have never met a supervillain like Voldemort, but we’ve all known everyday villains like her.
I have to pause several times on these Dolores scenes. Anyone who had to deal with these types of women will get it, the blood boiling rage, while forced to smile and nod.

If Dormammu had simply refused to negotiate and let the time loop run forever, Doctor Strange still would have won because locking Dormammu in a permanent stalemate was literally the objective. Outside the Dark Dimension, time was frozen right before Hong Kong was fully assimilated. Every single loop where Dormammu killed Strange kept Dormammu completely paralyzed from consuming Earth or any other realm in the cosmos. If the loop went on for eternity, Earth remained safe for eternity. The Dark Dimension is a realm entirely "beyond time." Because Dormammu had never experienced linear time before, he had zero psychological defense against repetition, boredom, or causality. For a being whose entire existence is built on endless expansion and consumption, being trapped in a 30-second box forever wasn't a waiting game, it was existential torture. Doctor Strange co-writer C. Robert Cargill explicitly confirmed that Strange stayed inside that loop for thousands of iterations (long enough to master his mystic arts through sheer repetition). Strange was used to linear failure, Dormammu was an immortal conqueror suddenly forced to experience a prison cell. Dormammu didn't bargain because he was polite, he bargained because letting the loop run forever meant giving up his entire existence as a cosmic conqueror just to spite one mortal in a cape. #Marvel #MCU
dr. strange trapped dormammu in a time loop where he kept returning no matter how many times he died, but what would have happened if dormammu had simply refused to negotiate and allowed that same loop to continue forever?

Just heard about Critical Role not using dice to determine important gameplay moments and I don't know if I should be either embarrassed or annoyingly bored at this point. Just stage a play already, this isn't even a game anymore.

America has a gun With (very few) apologies to Brian Bilston England is CCTV. France, a cop with lock and key. Greece, once free, now bends the knee. But, America has a gun. Sweden jails the ones who fight. Germany fines bad words at night. Spain forbids the wrong to write. But, America has a gun. Holland fines what words you say. Canada takes your knives away. Australia says, "you must Obey." While America has a gun. Japan will bow and not resist. Scotland bans what they won’t miss. Freedom bleeds, but still exists Because America has a gun. Better risk the fatal cost Than find that liberty was lost. The price is high, The fight, embossed Because America has a gun.

A question for comic book creators who got a publisher; do you usually get a comp copy of any book they publish for you, or is that, in your experience, uncommon? And to publishers of indie comics; is it custom for you to give a comp copy to the creators whose work you publish, or is that not a standard procedure?

Every week, I'm gonna try to showcase some self contained books I've discovered to show how vast comics actually are. Need to do something different than arguing against manga Anyone trying to do this with me? Only rule is no big 2

Depends where you shop. I went to a local comic shop recently. The manga section was tiny compared to the comics. Manga is not what killing American superhero comics. The toxicity of the comic industry and the overall poor product is. Ppl keep painting this as a "vs" thing.
29 shelves of Manga... The american comic book industry has not recovered from this. Ever.

I can only speak for myself. I was raised on anime and cartoons, manga and comics. Most of the videogames I played were made in Japan. However, as a kid, there was no distinction made. For me it wasn't "USA vs Japan" (unless it was WWE because Vince is a Jingoist)

Whether this is satire or true is irrelevant. The fact is, the is bland and boring and not what D&D is like to exist in. People aren’t existing with trees growing through their house, pseudo dragons on every corner, random men flying above town, and just being boring staring at each other. It’s stupid “whimsical” fairy world stuff made for fans of the Romantasy…not the adventuring world of D&D. Nothing about this image would make me want to play the game it represents.
WotC says the “overwhelmingly successful” art direction of NuD&D is here to stay. Players apparently prefer fantasy worlds where everyone is smiling, nothing looks dangerous, and even the monsters look like they sell candles on Etsy. Future books will keep leaning into it. “After all, the dungeon was always the least important part of Dungeons & Dragons.”

Вы просто не можете понять, что движет фикрайтерами. Я пишу фики не потому, что боюсь писать ориджиналы, а потому что мне понравилась написанная другим автором вселенная, его персонажи, и я пока не хочу с ними расставаться.
On fanfiction. There's nothing wrong with thinking up and dreaming alternatives to famous books and stories . But that's where it should stop. As soon as you decide to write it down -- stop. Don't. Instead, turn that energy into dreaming of your own book, your own story. Want to change Harry Potter? Write a better fantasy. Capture the feeling you want, but create something else entirely. Why live in someone else's world and cage yourself to using their scraps, their plot holes? Be free, writers. Be free, readers. You can leap from world to world. Imagine new places and people. Become infatuated with your own imagination, instead of that of others. There are limitless books out there. Find them, read them, write them. Dream bigger, dream deeper. Maybe it won't be as fun at first, but eventually you'll realize that your mind has superseded the tiny worlds of the Malfoids or Star Wars what-ifs or whatever else is popular. You'll be making your own worlds. You'll be the master. Your magic system. Your characters. You'll be free to defeat the potholes, to create romances, adventures, horrors, deaths. You'll dine on steak and wonder how you ever ate happy meals. I know this because I started writing with the Eragon series in mind, but I refused to make a fanfic. Instead, I imagined my own world, carefully molding it. It was a terrible book, but it opened my eyes to new ideas, new places, new dreams. Use your fanfiction ideas as inspiration, but never as the foundation. Build your own foundation, my friends. Sprout wings and fly. The world of stories is endless. Why chain yourselves?
